This is my second year participating in Nano.

My novel will be in English.

The Title is "Addanaya's Sugar"

The novel is about a mulato young woman of the 19th century Puerto Rico. It is a retelling of some known fairy tales with a Caribbean twist.

Addanaya's father boast that she can turn brown sugar into white. The capataz locks Addanaya so she can prove her father right. There she meets some interesting characters who will try to help her be free and save her father.

It;s a children's novel so the plot insn't as elaborate as the ones you've presented. Mine is really a story I wrote for my assignment in the course of Institute of Children's Lit. The inspiration came from a graduate Caribbean course I'm taking in UPR Rio Piedras. I want to expand it and let's see if this year I can meet the goal.

It's good to see you're extending a short story. Good work! I wish you the best of luck. I do write stories with adults but I do my best to keep it in a PG-13 rating in the sense of avoiding gory and sex scenes. But I always bring a good complex tale with action/adventure and romance. My tale is using the ancient race known as Toltecs that were before the Aztecs. And I even had the last of the rain children hiding in the Yunque. =-) So I like to bring stories involving our home Puerto Rico. Don't stop writing, for the future of your work depends solely on you. ;-)

It's good to see that someone answered my thread. Both of your stories sound very interesting. I've never really written a fiction story with setting Puerto Rico, but I have thought of including Puerto Rico in some scenes for other none Nano works. My works are mostly for young adults (although there may be some adults who enjoy them), it's easier for me this way, since after all I am a teenager myself.

Cool. Well there are times when I am a teenager inside. LOL. I'm 29, but I do have an overactive brain of a young one. If any here want feed back, honest, constructive feedback of their work, let me know. I coached a 19 year old girl from Indianapolis, In. She wrote a futuristic young adult novel called, SAVING EDEN. I helped her by ensuring she got a better grasp in telling her story and jogged her muse to be more creative. I'm no pro, but I have experienced working alongside published authors. I am also a book reviewer for Suspense Magazine. I have connections to helping you get where you want to go. I migth just take the feedback offer once I'm done with my novel.

Well, I am published with Suspense Magazine. I am also their official Book Reviewer, and I have to go running to the post office to pick up the book assigned to me to read and review. I haven't published large work yet. My editor is half way through my Epic novel that's the beginning of the Lemurian saga or series of six books that follow. Many ideas for stories always pop in my head, the problem is I'm too picky when writing. I don't move on to the next chapter until I feel its more than okay. Plus having a great DR (dedicated reader) that's one tough cookie helps. He pushes me to give my absolute best to my readers, and he doesn't sugar coat his critics, which I can handle the blows. LOL. So rest assure that your work is safe with me. I have too much projects to steal hard worked stories from others. On the contrary, I give more ideas out to those that want it. I always tell people to protect your work before sharing. There are various places for free too. like: http://myfreecopyright.com/

I also recommend that you register your story idea and plot for $20 as a treatment in WGA. Writer's Guild of America. They protect your baby for 5 years for $20. If ever someone steals your idea, you have proof that it belongs to you. But you all must remember, names are not protected. So you story, character, places names can not in no way be fought for. The overall idea and plot is what you have every right to protect and fight. Plus, also keep in mind that yes two minds can think alike. One writer was thinking about a story to write when she fell upon a published book a few years back that had almost the very same concept. So when an Idea pops up, don't wait to write it, you never know when someone else may have a brain blast and think up the same thing.

As notes jotted down on a napkin or sheets of paper, one may come upon them and try to use them, but they will never match the creative mind of thee who wrote and weave them into life. Therefore, freely I'll share my projects, more than aware, some may think they could get where I am going, but you be a fool to think so. My editor is still raving in how great my book is in not letting the reader know the ending like others do after a few chapters. Its good to see her try to guess what will happen next, and she only gets stumped.

I love action/adventure books mixed with romance and fantasy. Like many, we find it uncomfortable when reading a romance novel, we find ourselves ducking our head, shifting in our seats or keeping our book available only to our line of sight when sex scenes pop up. Ugh! Come on! We don't need to read sex scenes and see our characters getting jiggy with it. LOL. But sadly that's what MANY publishing companies are looking for, limiting many great writers of romance to publish their clean works. But, I don't let that get me down. I'm certain that maybe after a fellow writer I know got 192 rejection letters and he finally got accepted, as him I will find a good home for my series. LOL. Well, I'll let you know how many rejection letters I get once my book is edited and ready to roll. Best wishes to all.

In London,England,there lay a Castle.the Devonshire Finishing School for Young Ladies,where girls across England come to study,and become the great ladies of the English society.To the outside,the Devonshire Castle,as it was called,was one more of the many Finishing school in England in the days,where ladies where teach in the matters of manners,and of cultural knowledge.Where they learned how to waltz,and how to say my dear husband in french.in all in all,they were teach to be the perfect wives in England.but behind the layered dresses,the petticoats and small talks,the white gloves,and the perfect red lips,they were girls.Behind every close door,under the creaking wood floors,these girl made each night their own.Cigarettes and Lacy underwear were used.they made racy comments, poker and card games were often played,wine was passed,and drugs were used.You see,there in the woods that surrounded the Devonshire Castle,there nestled neatly between two oak trees,there was a cabin.it stones covered in mud,and moss,from time.small windows lined the walls,and a oak doors was perched in the front,flowers grew,as Love grew inside the cabin.Gypsies and circus freaks came and played inside the cabin.they met and waltz with the Ladies of Devonshire,and very often made more that waltzing.Because,these girls were meant to live,be it only one time in their lives,in an small cabin in the woods.They called this cabin,the small cozy cabin,the école de amour.{the school of love}

Bueno quise que el tema de la novela fuese la preservacion de la naturaleza pero le quise dar un twist y una cosa media rara, diganme opiniones si algunas :)

Trata sobre este joven, Joshua, que conoce a un hombre mientras camina hacia su casa. Por la noche mientras esta caminando por el pueblo siente una explosion en uno de los bares del pueblo y rapido va a investigar. Al llegar al bar se encuentra nuevamente con el hombre que esta herido mortalmente. Antes de morir el hombre le entrega a Joshua una bolsa con la que estaba cargando. Cuando Joshua la abre se encuentra adentro con una Zorra Kit (Diminuta zorra amarilla). El joven se lleva al animalito y le pone de nombre Rhea. Mientras tanto en otra realidad alterna (nuestra realidad) una joven de la misma edad que Joshua llamada Sylvia se pierde en un bosque y entra a una cueva donde llega a parar al sotano de Joshua. Joshua la encuantra y forma una amistad con la chica perdida. Pero la felicidad de los jovenes no durara ya que unos hombres y unas figuras malignas andan tras Rhea y la salvacion de un bosque de vidas dependera de la criatura y los 2 jovenes

De q es la novela? es una historia ficticia basada en mis experiencias mezclada con la de varias amistades. Es sobre las relaciones entre familiares y los cambios que ocurren naturalmente. Si todo sale de acuerdo al plan tendrá partes que darán gracia y otras que harán pensar al lector. Espero que sea algo con que el lector se pueda identificar. Hasta ahora es lo que tengo!

Que bueno que mis boricuas participen. Lamentablemente, como puedes ver, no hecho nada!!! LOL. Mi editora me tiena loca con mi primera obra, mas la muchacha a quien yo he sido una ayuda para ella me ha pedido revisar su novela antes de someterla al editor que le solicito su obra completa. Tengo que revisar que por lo menos sea presentable para tener una oportunidad. De verdad me impresiona su dedicacion de adaptar mis consejos a su trabajo, cual esta sonado fantastico. Asi que espero ver su obra Saving Eden en la venta ya para el finales de 2010, si todo va bien. Les deseo exito a toditos. Pero sinceramente no tengo tiempo para este ronda. De q es la novela? (si tienes una idea y quieres decirla): La novela trata de una sirena de 18 años llamada Marina que es salvada por dos humanos: un hombre adulto y un joven llamado Alan. En su mundo existen unas leyes y una de ellas es la Ley #52 en la cual dice que si una sirena(o sireno) es salvada(o) por humanos, ellos se convierten en humanos por 7 semanas y deben de cambiar la vida del humano q le salvó la vida ó de un miembro de la familia q viva con ese humano, de una forma positiva y si no lo hace no podran volver a ver su familia (vuelven a ser sirenos pero los despojan del territorio donde viven).

Otra información: Esta historia comenzo como una idea para un libreto de pelicula el cual hice en Septiembre 6 del 2006 y termine en Octubre 6 del mismo año (un mes), ahora tengo la oportunidad de profundizarme mas en el, aunque ya msi intensiones eran esas, tengo un site donde estoy poniendo mis "drafts" y la gente paga por paypal para bajarlo en pdf.s formats a su computadora si estan interesados pueden visitar a http://road-ahead.tripod.com/index o me envian un email al nosaintann@hotmail.com. OH! Btw, Gustavo Bon! Eres el mas cerca ke kedas de mi! En ke parte de Cupey vives? (digo, si se puede saber). Y me fascina tu historia! Yo soy loca con todo lo británico! La edad victoriana es mi favorita y soy loca con los clásicos victorianos, Jane Austen' s "Sense&Sesibility" y "Pride&Prejudice" pero mis autores favoritos son los Brontes, una familia completa de artistas y escritores! son mas famosos por las hermanas Charlotte, Emily y Anne. Emily solo escribió un libro que lo mencionan mucho en "Twilight" llamado "Wuthering Heights" te lo recomiendo, la verdad ke uno no puede comparar los clásicos con los libro modernos de ahora...son un nivel totalmente distinto! Exito en tu historia!
