Shout out to any teens in edinburgh? I think we should talk with each other etc... Cause lets face it, adults scare us... I dunno if this is going to a big success or not? But just saying 'hi' to everyone out there who are in school?

Also, if you are a teen, are any of you guys planning to go to the events mentioned in this forum in edinburgh? Just so we can band together... Or if you think there should be a different day just for us? Or just shout out your exam frustrations or teenage angst...

:D

Yes! Ah, I'm so glad there's someone else my age. I was beginning to think that this whole thing was comprised only of students and older. In fact, I was beginning to question my sanity, seeing as I'm still in full time education and all. But I feel better now.

Hi! I'm Bea. :)
And I was thinking about it. I may go to Starbucks for a few of the write-ins and lurk inconspicuously in the corner, scoping out the general age of other people that turn up. Is that weird?

Boring? BORING you say? Oiy!

I'm at that strange and weird cusp known as eighteen.

Where do I fit? XD

Also darlings, I hate to point this out but if you're over sixteen, here in Edinburgh you are already technically an adult. ;D

That means I'm not allowed to lurk inconspicuously, doesn't it? Damn.

Another teen here! Not really sure if I have anything to add to this but I thought I'd say hello! Nice to know there are other people a little closer to my age (: I was planning on coming to couple of the events and such so I will probably see some of you then!

Another teen here :D

I never go to events because I generally just assume it's gunna be older people.

We should get an event just for us :)

I'm 19, does that count?

And the events held are pretty much always in age-friendly places like coffee houses, so don't feel like it'll be 'just adults' or anything ^.^

Yes! I'm a teenager too! :) I don't know if I'll go to any of the events because everyone else is so much older, but I'm glad to see I'm not the only one! I'm on the young writers NaNoWriMo thing too. Is anyone else?

Lol sure I'll stick around! This place has central heating. Very snug. =D

I'll probably go to the write-ups. Not tomorrow because I'm busy but I probably will do the week after!

Edit: Also, don't be scared of people just because they might be that bit older than you! Especially with NaNo, you could easily have a great convo with someone about writing for hours, on the (excuse the pun) same page and everything, and they turn out to be sixty and into the same things you are!

Trust me.... there really isn't much difference between adults and teens.

Maturity is a myth. XD (or do I hang out with some really outlandish people?)

Nowadays coffee houses aren't exactly age friendly. From past experiences... hahaha.

Really? The places we go, particularly the starbucks we use for regular write-ins, I often see high-school kids with friends, or primary school kids with parents.

Its not as much who's there, its more the way the staff look down on you if you're a little young. Just in my experiences with starbucks though, costa coffee gladly serve me without making me feel self concious.

It's awesome seeing this many teens :D I don't think it'll be that scary going to the meets with the 'grown ups', but I do like the idea of having something where we young'uns can get together, haha. I actually prefer Costa coffee but at the end of the day I don't suppose it really matters where we meet. I'll be going to the meet tomorrow I think so I might catch some of you then.

Almost time! :D

i'm 18 (only just! my birthday was on friday) :] but i've never really been intimidated by ~*~adults~*~ or whatever. if you guys are up for it though, i'd be very open to some teen-based write-ins, maybe in Costa at Princes' Street Mall (it's my fav!)? =]

what times & places are youse all available IE not at school/work? :]

Hey :)
I'm sixteen and new to the whole WriMo thing, but really want to make a good job of it.
Pretty sure I must be completely insane though, this being Highers year and all. :/ We'll see how that goes.
Anyway, I was having the same worries about whether I'd be the youngest, and it's great to see others my age :D

Costa in princes mall is brilliant, haha! Perhaps a weekend might be easier because that already rules school out, I personally don't work weekends either but what about everyone else?

Aoife

ps. wow cathy, nanowrimo AND highers, you're brave! :P

Weekends are better for me, generally. I can do Saturday and/or Sunday afternoons. :)
(I like sleep)

I am also exceptionally gifted in the art of procrastination...

*edges in awkwardly*

Pssst... if you're available you're all welcome to the Sunday write-ins. We may be scary old folks, but we need teens to keep us young! Also, there's lots of uni students so our average age is probably far closer to you than you'd expect! I promise we don't bite!

And if you end up planning any write-ins, let me know and I'll stick them on the calendar!

haha, the first year i did nano was the year of my highers -- i remember sitting in the early hours of the morning, hiding my laptop under the covers in case my mum came in -- because i HAD to get those 1667 words done! FUNTIMES. :D

Costa's open until 6pm - how does a three 'til six write-in on a saturday sound? that way it doesn't clash with the sunday one if anyone wants to go to that, gives everyone enough time to sleep in and still get into town, and lets us probably claim that nice little corner with the HUGE comfy seats. ;D

if people work weekend day-times, maybe we could have an evening write-in? -- unfortunately i'm not sure where/if there's anywhere for under-18s to hang about and type after like 8 o'clock. :C

The afternoon one sounds good to me. I might be there earlier, but whatever. :)

And oh god, highers. I had three NABs today, none of which I studied for, because of writing. *headdesk*

I'm already feeling a lot like this whole highers vs. nano thing is a stupid idea, because I'm only just about clinging to my word count, and my school work has instantly gone AWOL.
Oh well.
Costa doesn't sound too bad. :) I'm considering having a gander at some of the adult write-ins on Sundays as well. Bit nervous though, which sounds so random, but it's sadly true. :3
