The annual Halloween Kick Off will be held on October 31 at 7.30 pm at Gina's Pizza in Irvine, across the street from UCI. There will be: -yummy foods -a costume contest -games -goody bags -awesome people -encouragement -excitement -and fun times. I hope to see all of you there. |

And if you're looking for a place to start writing your novel, there'll be an all-night write-in at Vanguard University. Starts October 31 at 11:30 and ends the next morning, November 1 at 8:30. Come for an hour, or stay the whole time. If you want, you can even stop by the next morning.

Unfortunately, I'll be busy handing out candy to trick-or-treaters (though if the weather is warm enough, I will proudly wear one of my nanowrimo t-shirts). Besides which, Irvine's a bit of a ways for me anyway, since I'm down at the very south of south Orange County.
I hope everyone else has lots of fun, though!

I'm entirely new to this thing, but I would like to come if there's room for a laptop/mac-less person. Or is the write-in only at Vanguard and there'll only be partying in Gina's Pizza?

Ah, that's good to know. Thanks, Red. My laptop's power cord isn't working well, so it's been designated as a desktop computer, haha. I'd still like to meet some fellow writer's, though I won't be able to come 'til around 10 or so. Is everyone moving to the Vanguard campus at 11:30 or is there no set plan as of yet?

Please don't let this be like the first Kick off where where I waited around in the freezing cold for 2 hours flaunting my t-shirt, but no one there had any idea what Nanowrimo is or was. Anyway, I'll try to come this year...though the costume is iffy. Wish I had a laptop because I live directly across the street from Vanguard University. Darn.

I know Skatepixie is planning on stopping by at Vanguard at some point, but I'm not sure when she was planning on it. My guess is that the kick-off will go until people just decide it's over.
Then again, I wasn't there last year, so I'm really not sure.

I will be going to Vanguard at 11.30, and hoping not to get lost on campus. Hehe. I'll be staying at least until the end of the "bonus hour" from daylight savings.
Gina's is party only, since we can't start til midnight. So it's food, costume contest, talking about our novels, and other fun stuff. :-)
