With NaNo fast approaching, I figured we ought to have a challenge thread - if we are having a challenge against maryland this year, which we hopefully will, the Lushguins must stand victorous!

I am in NO MEANS in charge of this, so could we please find someone to be in charge and get organized within the week?

And if we are having a challenge, let's have thsi been the sign up thread. I say all sign ups by the end of the first week of NaNo, and if you sign up, please leave your email so whoever the head is can contact you!

can we go more into the challenge? XD I know its kinda like, who writes the most, but . . is there anything more to it? Like, to state to region? To person to person? Speed to 50 with most time left?

Knight Z...Houston and Austin generally team up to form the Lushiguns and we try to beat the Maryland Crabs. Whichever region ends up having the most words (they have a neat way of calculating everything so it's all fair) wins. It's helped a lot of people boost their word count and it's a lot of fun.

More info will be forthcoming soon. :)

It's fun...you see your word count beside others here, Austin, and Maryland. Good motivation.

I might actually try it this year, see if it motivates me to actually finish. If I remember right, it's something to do with word count average per person.

So, my roommate told me something funny about crabs. When you boil them, they screech/whistle. The noise she makes is "Eeeeeeeeeeeeee.... POP." Yeah. They screech, and then pop. It's amusing. That should be our battle call! "Eeeeeeeeeeee... POP." -giggles-

As in the past, the Word Wars are being tracked, although this year they are on a new server! Check it out http://www.fearingisland.net

We'll be launching some alternative counting and challenge methods as well over there, including a way for you to load twenty or so of your friends and set up an "every writer for him/herself" type War. Details coming soon.

And one last note: final site archiving from 2008 isn't quiiiiite done. So you might see some old-style challenges over there. They'll move to the archive section by Oct 31, leaving the slate clear for 2009.
