I've received a lot of nanomail asking for another write-in during the week that was a little closer so I'm holding a Friday night Write-In each week at my apartment in South Tulsa. I live around 91st & Sheridan. Please be advised that I had a cat here for about a year so if you have severe cat allergies it probably isn't a friendly place for you! I got a kitten on 10/13 and she will be in the apartment for the 13th, 20th & 27th write-ins, so again if you have kitty issues you have been forewarned!
Bring a snack or drink to share with the group if you like!
My apartment is about 800 sqft with seating for about 10.
It's RSVP only as I have to nanomail you my address and directions.
South Tulsa Write-Ins (the number after the date is how many seats are left after I start getting RSVPs):
WHEN:
November 06th- 2
November 13th- 6
November 20th-7
November 27th-6
7:00pm until whenever people leave, I'm a night owl so people can stay as late as they like. Lord know I'd be up writing anyway.

That would be awesome. Monday is my busiest day of the week and I probably won't be able to make any of those write-ins.

I'd love to come on Friday nights! Mondays are a little iffy for me, too, and this way I could just drop my husband off for his guitar lessons, and have something to do myself!

That sounds good to me.Let me run it by my wife and see if she can do one of those Fridays :-) Also if you are interested I could whip up something to eat and bring along? My wife likes to eat CRUNCHY things when she is jazzed up! Just let me know certain likes, dislikes, and diet requirements :-)

I'd like to come to one of the Friday night write-ins. That sounds fun!
I was hoping I'd get to come to the kick-off party on Saturday night, but things are up in the air right now. If I don't see you guys then, I'll see you at one of the Friday night write-ins.

I can't come on Fridays. But I fully expect everyone who can attend Friday write-ins to have so much fun that I won't even be missed. ;~D
I do plan to make the Kick-off and Wendy's write-ins--weather permitting. See you there--unless you don't come, you're incognito, or you're invisible--in which case, you will be missed no matter how much fun I'm having.

I don't know if I'll end up going - when I'm in Tulsa on the weekend I'm at my parents house and they might freak out if I say I'm going to a strange persons house to write (then out of guilt I won't go) :(

They're just parents...they think they know whats best for ya, and usually they're right!
I've spoken to a couple parents already and I'd be more than happy to chat with yours! If they wanted to meet me ahead of time they are more than welcome to come to my job between 12p and 2p and they can see for themselves that I'm a non-threatening nerd. They are also welcome to come to the write-ins and check it out! Anything that I can do to make them feel more at ease please let me know! I'd hate for you to miss out because your parents are worried!

Same here, or at least, they were when I was still living at home. When I was 17, I went to my first writing conference in OKC with a writing group I'd only been a part of for a few months. My mom insisted that she meet the women I was carpooling with before I left. From my experience, that's usually enough to assure them that you're not running off to join a cult or something. :-)

Lol. We also live really far out. Like the outskirts of the outskirts of Bixby. Think close to Muskogee and Cowetta. And I can't drive yet is another reason why.

While I can't commit to the first Write-In just yet, I would certainly like to participate. I'll submit my RSVP by Wednesday.
One more thing: are there any plans for carpooling? While I plan on driving myself to-and-from the write-ins, I can offer a ride to one or two other people. I have a truck and two is the absolute most I can fit, so carpooling might be better suited to someone with a roomier vehicle if the idea is popular enough. That is, unless you're comfortable with sitting in the tiny space in the cab or in the back of the bed. :)

Hey people!
I just wanted to say thanks to Amanda for hosting again and that I had a blast last night (again).
Oh, and, also, for those of you who were there last night, once I got home I checked my other backup for the novel and found that even with that, latest one, I would still be losing about 2,500 words. After that though, I managed, somehow, I have no clue how, to find a file that had everything I'd written last night before the file got overwritten - and I still had another file (with the same name, in another folder) that had everything I wrote after the horrible overwriting occurred. I have no clue how that is even possible, in fact, I swear, Carmellon - my laptop - simply took pity on me and dredged it up from somewhere. So, after that, all I had to do was integrate the two sets of writing I did last night and I was golden! (and I ended up having more words than I actually - conservatively - guessed when I was done last night.)
I know lots of people were kind of scared into frantically saving their own novels last night by my mishap, and I thought the news that I recovered my work might be reassuring! (And I really, kinda wanted to share my relief with people who I know understand!)
Ta!
~Serena
P.S. For anyone (else) who for some reason wants the blow by blow, or wants to know how it happened (I did figure it out eventually), I wrote an entry in my journal about the whole mishap here - http://kalira9.livejournal.com/23592.html.

I second the thanks to Amanda! That was the most writing I've gotten done all week. If I can make next Friday I'll make arrangements to stay a little later so I can fully participate in the Box of Doom! Hopefully today will be a huge day. I've convinced my wife to take the kids out for a few hours so I can buckle down and tack some words on. Write or Die time!
Serena, glad to hear you recovered your work!

Thanks everyone for coming! I had a blast and a half. Its a shame that half of you left early, once it was just Serena, Rebekah Debra and I there was almost no writing done... oh well LOL...
Because the Box of Doom (helpful & hated!) is always so successful I thought I'd post the link to the Box O' Doom web program that Travis, the Municipal Liaison for Tuscaloosa Alabama, created so you could BoD on your own. Every time you refresh the page you get 3 random numbers. The first number, on a red scroll, is the hardest challenge. I regularly get numbers in the 3k range on that scroll when I refresh. The second number, on a beige scroll, is a middle range number, think 800-1500 ish. The third number, on a green scroll, is the easiest. I think its range is about 500-1000. There is no timer on the site so you have to set your own but the cool thing is you can set your timer according to the # you draw. I like to do 30min-45min BoD challenges but if you draw the 3k one give yourself an hour & a half.
Box O' Doom: http://www.netspace.org/~origamipimp/boxodoom.htm
Again, thanks everyone for coming! I had so much fun and wrote over 3k! Hope to see you all next week!
