Are you dying to get started on your story? Do you want another chance to meet some of the Vancouver wrimos? Do you work better in an environment of so-so coffee and endless pieces of pie? Then we have the perfect event for you!
The Vancouver region will be getting an early start to our word count on Saturday night/Sunday morning. Join us at the Shari's by the mall (right next door to Azteca) at 11:30 on Halloween night. We'll be there until around 2 AM, until our laptop batteries run out, or until the coffee wears off--whichever comes first. Two hours is just enough time to easily get your first day's word count under your belt before you even go to sleep. As an added bonus, this is also time change night, so when we're done it will actually only be 1:00 AM.
If you weren't able to make it to the Kick-off tonight, I will also have goodies available for you. There are stickers, folders, goody bags, and jailed internal editors left that I will be handing out. We can play NaNo Bingo while we count down the last few minutes until midnight.
And of course, I will be selling the raffle tickets. As noted in that thread, we are currently just under $50 is proceeds there--wouldn't it be awesome if we could pass $100 in the first week?
Soooooooooo... anyone have a story outline I can borrow?

It's not quite as important that we know how many people are coming on Saturday, but it would be nice to have a ballpark figure nonetheless. Okay, I admit it--I'm kind of twitchy about details and I just want to know. Shari's said they would try to put us in the sunken down area if we had a large group, so it would be good if I could tell them when I get there Saturday night.

(Can't imagine many Novel Adjacent People will want to come sit with us while we write... at midnight. If I'm wrong, let me know.)

Any chance of having a power source? My laptop is a freebie hand me down from my mom a few years ago (something to keep me online while I was deployed to England and keep in touch with my family easier) but has the life of a fruit fly. I replaced the battery and upped the life by about 30 minutes so I get around 1 and 20 on it at best. Til I can get a 2nd job and afford a netbook, it is all I gots for remote work.

I will be there, and will be attempting to get Benvolio to participate. I may not be exactly on time, but it's my intention to get some early morning writing in.

Hey Steve,
We're sure there are power sources there, and are currently seeking them out. We will be begging, pleading and sucking up to management for just 1 power source. We will also have bout 3 extension cords to work with as well. Also, as a suggestion for daily life. It helps to have a pad of paper in your pocket to write down thoughts and ideas as NaNo goes on. I find that most of my ideas that get written down inspire huge amounts of creativity.
I hope this helps! Is your daughter going to be there? I know it will be late, but it'd be nice to see her. Also, we'll need to know as far as headcount goes.

I'm currently planning to be there so i can meet some of you all.
I'm not much of a night owl so I may write an utterly craptastic first chapter but hey, it's NaNo so what better time to try it. Maybe I spend a little more time on my chapter one outline too...I still have3 days, eh?

I will try to be there before midnight, but not sure about the kid!! We are planning on doing some trick or treating and then the thought is to maybe get in a nap and then come out. I will see how she feels about it after school today.

Of all ironic things, I got laid off today (seasonal job, so I knew it was coming, but not exactly when), so I plan to be there tonight as well, since now I don't have to work tomorrow morning!
