Okay, trying to get this working....

DANG Regional Calendar

Remember, you do not have to come to any write-ins. These are listed as places you can meet up with other writers if you so choose. Please note that Thursdays have two events at the same time on opposite sides of town. The event on Saturday is a morning write in for those early risers (not me!). I'm still looking for something for Saturday evenings. If anyone has some ideas, please let us know.

For those returning, we are not able to use the Fairborn Writers' Loft this year due to technical problems. Last year we had something scheduled every night and I felt it was just too much, so we left some evenings open this year. I or one of the Co-ML's will try to be at each of the events. I personallyl will be at the Sunday, Tues, and Thursday (Beavercreek) events.

Please let me know if you have any questions!

I had a question: Does the Books & Co at the Greene have free wireless? I asked at the Books & Co in Towne & Country shopping center, and they only provide it if you have a membership card (I don't), so I just wondered.

Thanks for organizing all this!

It's the same at Books and Co at the Greene. Actually November seems to be my month to remember to renew mine, because I'm there more often...especially since I moved farther away.

We have added a new location: the Words Worth Studio, on Mon, Wed and Saturdays. It sounds like more of a studio set up with enough space for 10-12 people to write. Please do not show up early for this one as it is a business! If any of the folks from this location could post more details, we'd appreciate it!

Wow...looks like very few I will be able to make. They all correspond with my evening job, and those that are on days I can go are all the way across town. That's a bummer. Guess I'll be motivating myself this year. :P

I'll probably be able to make the ones at Words Worth on Mondays and Saturdays, as it's within minutes from where I live and work! :D I won't be able to make the Wednesday ones, as I work 'til 8:30, and by the time I get there it'd practically be time to leave. LOL

By the way, when I click on the map function for the kickoff party, it gives the location of the Brookstone Clubhouse... in Acworth, GA!

So the Wordsworth meetings on Saturday are at the same time as the ones in Englewood?

I'm trying not to be a drama! whore here, but 'd already been kind of thinking of calling it off this year. The memory stick with all of my writing for the last two years, including all my story notes and the first four chapters of the story was going to continue for NaNo? haven't seen it for at least a week. And thanks to the library budget panic, I seriously can't afford to drive out to Kettering and Beavercreek three times a week. Last year the Boston Stoker ones were pretty sparsely attended even without an alternative location, and we never had anyone at Miller Lane Panera write-ins at all.

I mean, I don't intend this as a "screw you all, I'm out of here!" flounce at all, but I'm... not seeing a lot that encourages me to participate this year.

You were at the meeting when we planned all of this :P I've no clue what's north of town at all, so I couldn't really suggest any places for write-ins up there. I know it would be nice to have some for those who do live north of town.

If you have any ideas--or anyone else north of town--I'm sure we could try and figure something else out to schedule events up north, kind of like the same with the two Panera ones.

Same here! It's actually within walking distance for me :) Although I'll still drive as it will be dark at that time. Still it's nice to know it's only a five minute car ride away.

I'll try and be there this Monday at 6:30.

Well, it's not just the schedule making me post things that I look at five minutes later and go "wow, hey, yeah. The things I said I wasn't trying to do? I did them anyway and did them in a really whiny passive-aggressive way! Rock on, self! *facepalm*", it's also losing all my writing and some things I'd rather not go into on a public board. I think I was kind of lashing out at the board for things that have nothing to do with it there and I do apologize for that.

I know there's a thread for people from Miami County elsewhere on the board; I think we could as easily move the Boston Stoker meetings to the one in Troy and not miss anything.

Hello! I'm the owner of Word's Worth Writing Center and I'm glad to add my place as one of the many write-in locations in the area. The center is located on the corner of Peach Orchard and Far Hills in Oakwood. The address is 2300 (It's the old Post Office Building in Oakwood). The entrance is on the side. Just go down the stairs and I'm across from the lobby. Wi-Fi is iffy, but on good days you can connect to Harbor Link, Oakwood's free internet service. I'll have coffee, teas, and light snacks. If you have any further questions, please contact me at dmcg@wordsworthdayton.com.

Emily, these events were already on their schedule of planned write-ins. I am just adding them to the regional one. If you want to move the Boston Stoker to another location, day, or time, let me know. We typically don't have more than 5 people at any one write in after the first week anyway!

I updated the address to the kick off. It should show correctly on the map.

Someone said no one tends to attend the Miller Lane Panera ones? Aww shoot, those are the only do-able ones for me. FML

Up north, we have the aforementioned Boston Stoker in Troy on 55. There is a Panera on W. Main St. in Troy, although they don't seem to have nearly as many plug-in spots as the smaller Boston Stoker does. There is Night Sky Cafe on the north side of the Square. There is a place called Grounds for Pleasure in Tipp City. I'm new to the area, and I'm sure there are other places, but these are the ones I know of so far. I'd love to see something take place up here, even if it is only a few people.

This is great to have one so close to home since I live on Peach Orchard and it is within walking distance. Are we allowed to bring snacks or our own drinks to Wordsworth? I am looking forward to meeting others in the area and will definitely be there on Saturday since it is before our WYSO volunteer party in YS that night! Thanks!

The books & co write ins are typically some of our most well attended as it is a great location. I'll be there.

I will be at all three of the Books & Co write ins (assuming nothing random pops up in life, lol). I use a laptop but using a spiral notebook has been done before. Use whatever works! :)

I do plan on going to the Words Worth Writing Center tonight. I'll probably be there closer to 7.

Hey all,

We've got a local one going at Yellow Springs this weekend. It isn't very far from Dayton so I thought I'd post the info here on the off chance that some Fairborn/Beavercreek/Other Wrimos might like to pop over and see what's up in the village!

Hi Everyone,

Okay, so let's meet at the Emporium here in Yellow Springs on Sunday the 8th from 1:00 until 4:00 pm. The address for the Emporium is: 233 Xenia Avenue. Their website is www.emporiumwines.com and the phone number is: 937-767-7077.

See ya'll there. Again, don't forget your earphones. Might not need them, but then again, you might! ;-)

Bring those novels!

Kate

The Write-In tonight (11/9 6:30-9:00pm) at Word's Worth Writing Center has been cancelled. Sorry if this causes an inconvenience to anyone. I have a work commitment that I have to attend to...sigh...I do have Write-ins scheduled for Wednesday (11/11) from 6:30-9:00pm and Saturday (11/14) from 9am-noon if that helps. Please stop by if you are able. Again, I'm sorry about tonight.

Where do you all meet at the Books and Co. write ins? Do you care if a Columbus resident attends this Fridays one? I happen to be in the area that night.
