I don't know that any of them are particularly child unfriendly. Do you have any suggestions for places you think would be better?

These places are nice for my 6 years old, but will be inappropriate for my 2 years old because there is nothing for him to play with. It also would be hard to write and keep an eye on both children. I get scared very easily, lol. Can't see them for a second and I'm all scaredee cat.
I know that New Carlisle has a great library that has a bottom floor devoted to children, so does Fairborn, and they have computers and books that would occupy children.

I am not sure how many writers have very young children and do not have babysitters, but I sure would love to meet with a group of moms writers so our children could play with each other.
I do want to write with everybody, but it can be tough to be a mom and try to do something else for oneself.
I'm sure some of you understand the feeling :)

I have a 4 y/o and an almost 2 y/o, so I would be up for some kid-friendly meet-ups. My husband is home in the evenings most days so I'm sure I can get away for a few of the regular ones.

Not too many of the folks have young children, or they don't bring them to write ins often. We've had a few though and welcome them. We have had write-ins in the past at libraries. The primary difficulties are typically size of space and food and drink. Some of the libraries can handle the size, but most don't have anything other than coffee available if they allow even that. Most of us like our continuous refills of some form of beverage! And some people really want wifi access. I haven't been to a library in a year or so, but they didn't have wifi then. Not sure if that's changed.

Those are the main reasons we don't meet at libraries too often. But please don't let that discourage you from using them if you so choose! If you are really interested in getting a group of members with small kids together, I'd suggest starting a thread and trying to organize some get togethers like the over 50 crowd does. Just a thought...

Just wanted to mention that the Centerville Library does have free wifi, in case anyone's interested. I don't think you have to have a library card there to be able to use it. They have some community meeting rooms, too. And stuff for kids. But I don't know about the food and drinks.

Thanks. Centerville library would be perfect for us, and they have a close area for kids too, which makes it safer.

What is the Words Worth Studio? I googled it but did not find any info.

Thanks

You can find information about Word's Worth under Word's Worth Writing Center or at http://www.wordsworthdayton.com

It's a writing school/center, located in Oakwood. They have open writing times throughout the month.

If you do decide to do something at Centerville library, let me know. I don't have kids, but it's near where I live so I might join you anyway, to get in some writing time. You may have to reserve the community rooms, I don't know how that works.

Ok, thanks for wanting to join us. So, it is Centerville library. I will reserve something for the week tomorrow. I will ask more information on wifi, food, conference room. I can go there in the afternoons, say aound 2pm. I hope that works with you both and with other people too. Maybe two or three times this week.

At first glance I would love to have a kid friendly place however it's hard to write and keep track of them. Maybe we could all go in on a sitter so we could concentrate.

Afternoons work for me. Maybe we should start a new thread with the Centerville Library information, once you find out the particulars and schedule something, so it's easy for everyone to find, in case there are others that would want to attend.
