I thought about contributing to a big thread in the main forums, but for the last 2 years I felt my responses became a little lost. With a smaller group, I am hoping that what I would post here may at least be read.
And now that I've started this thread I'll probably end up posting random things I think everybody should know about. To start with 2 articles pertaining to novel writing.
#1 From Nicole Peeler: http://whatever.scalzi.com/2009/10/27/the-big-idea-nicole-peeler/
#2 from the Lit Drift website: http://www.litdrift.com/2009/10/27/5-reasons-why-the-novel-is-not-a-dyin...
Enjoy!

Thank you for the article links! I've read the 2nd one, and will check out the 1st one when I'm home.
And I hear you re: feeling like you (and your responses!) can get lost in the larger forums. I also find it a bit tricky to keep up with whatever forum I happen to post in out the larger areas. Plus, I don't really need another means of procrastination (LOL!), so I'm poking around more in the more here this year *and* reminding myself I don't have to follow a bunch of threads either. Especially when I ought to be writing. ;-)

I love twitter. The people you follow come up with some awesome stuff from time to time, and excellent resources:

Just procrastinating on playing catch up, don't mind me.

If you guys want to procrastinate outdoors, I should remind you that the Leonid meteor shower is tonight (Tuesday, Nov 17), with the high point of activity at around 19h30 our time. Not only that, but it'll be a new moon as well, meaning that you've got the chance to see quite a show if you can get away from the city lights.
And if you can't make it, then at least you'll be able to write about meteor showers in your novel. A win-win situation!
