I have had an e-mail from Jim Clarke of the Irish Sunday Mirror who would like to do an item about us. It is up to you whether we do it or not. What do you think. Here's his mail:
Hi,
My name is Jim Clarke and I am the senior reporter here at the Irish Sunday Mirror.
With Nanowrimo kicking off this Sunday, its annual launch chimes nicely with our edition. So I was keen to write an article on Irish people taking part in Nanowrimo for this week's paper.
(I've taken part three times myself, but semi-cheating, as I use Nanowrimo as an annual kickstart for this mammoth epic unfinished tome I will likely never finish, rather than doing it properly and starting from scratch.)
Do you think a few of those who intend taking part might agree to speak to me for a piece in this week's paper? It would be great to grab a word with some people who've successfully completed the challenge before, as well as people trying for the first time.
Let me know if you think this could work for you guys.
I look forward to hearing from you,
Jim Clarke,
Senior Reporter,
Irish Sunday Mirror.

Hi, I've done Nano a couple of times in the past myself, (once reached the magic 50!) and since the start this year coincides with a Sunday, I thought it might warrant an article for the paper. You never know, it might encourage a few last minute entrants.
Anyhow, as Mamo says, I am indeed looking to talk to two or three participants about why they're doing this, how they hope to fit it in around real life and what they hope to get out of it.
Ideally, I'd like to speak to people by phone tomorrow or Friday, and if you're really unlucky, I might even send a photographer out to take a pic of you to accompany the article.
If you're interested in answering a few questions about your involvement in Nano, please email me at jim.clarke@mgn.ie ASAP, and I'll be in touch with people tomorrow.
All the best and happy writing everyone!
PS Yes, I will be taking part myself, but I'll be sort of cheating as I'm 95,000 words into a novel that I want to complete.

Just in case anyone did not pick up on the connection, this is the journaist I mentioned in the first post in this thread, so those who are interested in talking to Jim can e-mail him to arrange what suits you,

Does anybody know if something became of this? Was there an article in the Mail on Sunday?

I spoke with the journalist on Friday evening and he said that he had interviewed two of our Wrimos and was pleased with what he got. I had also sent him some general information. I took a fast look through the paper and found a small piece about NaNo in general, but no interviews. Maybe they ran out of space.

Yeah... that was disappointing to say the least. I email him yesterday to ask what had happened, but as yet no reply (I was one of the two ^_^)
Maybe they'll put them in next week..... I hope they do. It'd be a shame (there was far too much X-Factor and Sport stuff in that paper!!)

You could try e-mailing him at the address he listed below and see if he wants to do anything about the participants at this stage.I am slightly surprised that he did not include the interviews he had already done, as he seemed very enthusiastic about them on Friday.
