When you affiliate with a region, you can post in the regional forum and receive email updates from that region's Municipal Liaison. To affiliate, go to My NaNoWriMo and select My Regions. By scrolling or searching by region name, locate the region or regions you'd like to affiliate with, and click on the Join button in the column to the left. Confirm that you'd like to join, and that region will be added to a list of "My Regions," accessible by the tab of the same name.
Once you've affiliated with your preferred region or regions, you should pick one of them to be your home region by clicking on the Home Region tab. Scroll through the list of region names until you locate the region that you'd like to home to. Click on the bubble to the right of the region name and select "Set home region" at the bottom of the page. By setting your home region, you'll still be able to post in the regional forum and receive email updates from the ML, but your word count total and any donation you make will also be attributed to regional totals!
