I know there's an entire forum for discussing musical accompaniment to our impending literary adventures, but I figure there's at least a small chance that some of you are like me and find the generalized forums overwhelming/scary/uncouth/generally pretty mindless. To that end, if there are Mooselings who like some background noise when they are pounding away at the daily word count, I wanted to share the following websites.
http://www.pandora.com
http://www.last.fm/
Some of you are already familiar with these, but if you aren't, they are beautiful, beautiful things. Both purport to accomplish the same things; you suggest a band, song, or genre you enjoy, and they build a radio station around that, based on your like/dislike feedback of what they offer you. The former, Pandora, tends to deal with a little more mainstream stuff, and has a pause feature, which is made of win. The latter, Last.fm, is good for more obscure fare, but does sometimes venture a bit to the fringe (which may be precisely what some of us are looking for!). Also, last I checked, it still didn't offer a pause feature, but it's been awhile.
I prefer Pandora. You only get a limited number of skips per station per hour, but you can make as many stations as you like, and really, once you get them broken in, the skip button will begin collecting dust pretty quickly. You can even share stations with friends via e-mail.
Anyway, just figured I would share. Every little bit helps come mid-November, and nothing irks me, personally, more than the same stale playlists over and over again. Happy writing!

This one's REALLY specific, but if you like industrial music, you'll like this internet radio station: Digital Gunfire
