Last year there was an online write-in as soon as the clock rolled over to November, are we doing that again this year? 'Cause it was awesome fun (and the chat room was handy the rest of the month for finding people to word war with as well).

It's a great idea. We have a regional chat room at http://chatnano.net/tempchats/ottawa.html that we can use for virtual meet-ups. You can always find this link under the "Regional Info" tab at the top of the Ottawa forum.

What's a good time to get started and let people natter and wibble before the clock strikes Twelve? An hour or so before, maybe?

Does anyone with good chatting skills want to host this?

Depends what time I get out from Rocky Horror. :P But I'll probably be in the chatroom a lot more this year, because I've finally figured out how to connect via IRC. There's instructions on the chat info page for anyone who's interested.

Short version:
Server: irc.mibbit.com
Room: #ottawanano

The current version of mIRC does multi-server connections, which is why I like it; I'm usually screwing around on Dynastynet when I'm home in the evenings. The usual disclaimer about not spending too much time in the chat when you should be noveling applies, of course. ;D

Sweet! I'll probably be doing last-minute planning all day Saturday, so I'll pop in around 11:00 as well.

Have fun though =)

I hope there's more of these. :)
My Halloween night consists of Rocky Horror and Haunted Hostels, so I won't be able to make it. But I need all the encouragement I can get.

Okay, I'm off work early that day, which gives me time to plot and or nap in the evening. I'll be there around 11.

Does anyone have an idea where we could have a midnight write-in ? Is there any coffee shop that is open for a few hours past midnight?

Sounds fabulous :) I can play host and initiate word wars, and get people to talk about their novels before the clock starts ticking. As a longtime Nanoer I'm not too worried about my word count.

I didn't make it to the launch because of plague, but an online event is perfect !

I'll be there if I'm still awake. I came down with a cold this week, just in time for Nano, so I've been pretty beat. Not the most auspicious of beginnings for Nano #5. :P

Good luck, everyone!

Hey Everyone,

For those that wanted to be around people and participate to the Chat Midnight-Write-in.

A bunch of us are meeting at Denny's at South Keys at 11pm tonight.

They have Free WiFi, plenty of parking, decent affordable food and most importantly coffee.
