From what I have been reading on the website and in Chris Bate's book "No Plot No Problem", Write-ins are a great way to support each other in getting down our 50,000 words. However other than the IDW Convention these don't seem to be mentioned in our forum. I'm a newbie Wrimo but perhaps some of our more experienced Wrimos can tell us what worked or didn't work in previous years? Are there any good locations around town? Perhaps we could think of extending our Saturday meet-ups at the Central to include a Write-in?

I agree, it would be great to have write-ins this year. Does anyone know if there are power plugs at the Library bar?

I looked vaguely on Saturday, but did not notice any, but we were in the central area near the fireplace. They may be low down, near one or more of the windows. A gang-bar or two might help in that regard. If people wanted to have one, then it can happen. It would also mean that some of those who cannot come on Saturday afternoon could join us. Or do we want to move one of the 'meet-ups' to begin at 4 p.m. and run to 8 p.m.? How about on 7th November?

Oops, I'll have a visitor on Nov. 7th and won't be able to come :S
But on a general note, I think combining meet-ups with write-ins on saturday could work out well. I won't set a good example since I'll be gone on sat. 7th and 14th but perhaps other people are also up for the idea?

I could make either the 7th or the 8th but probably not both days.
BTW I also asked a couple of libraries if we could use thier facilities, but it seems that they have a policy of not letting people plug in their laptops. :-(

If some people wanted to come on 7th and others on 8th, I will try to cover both, but not every week . . . and I would ideally like to know that people were coming both days before I commit to that!
I knew that most libraries are a bit prone to be restrictive in these situations. Thanks for your help in checking it out, though.

I'd definitely be interested in Write ins. They seem like a great idea.
Looking forward to meeting people today, and I'm sure we could discuss there.

Hi all,
I am going to the Library Bar at the Central for a write-in tomorrow, Monday the 2nd of November, from 5.30 pm to 6.30 pm.
Feel free to join me, you will recognise me by my black netbook and my white winter jacket.

I can't make it tomorrow, but don't think there will be any problem. If there are more than a few of you, it might be a good idea to bounce it past the Duty Manager at the front desk. The DM on Saturday said it would be fine when I talked to her yesterday, but that it a lot of us were doing it, would we let them know, please. Just so long as there are no trailing cables that might trip other guests, it should be OK.

Library Bar on the first floor of the Central Hotel, Exchequer Street, almost at the corner with South Great George's Street, 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. If you look at the calendar (above these threads and click on the 'google calendar' button, then on the relevant item, you will find a map available.
It would be great if you could come.

There is a meet up every Saturday (2 p.m. to 4 p.m.) during November in the Library Bar on the first floor of the Central Hotel, Exchequer Street. There are power points and when I asked last Saturday I was told that we could plug in laptops there. There is also wi-fi in the hotel.
We have been discussing having a write in (or two, or three) and among the options currently under discussion are to have it (a) after the meet up on Saturday or at some time on Sunday afternoon.
The decision on this is up to the WriMos themselves, so please let me know what you want to do! ;-)

Did I understand properly that we will be having a write-in this Saturday November 6th after our meet-up? If we are, then what time are we starting the write-in? Should we have the meet-up from 2pm to 3pm and the write-in from 3pm to 5pm? Just wondering...

How about we have our normal meet-up 2 - 4 p.m.? If some people want to start a write-in at 3 p.m., then they can move over to one end of the group so that they won't be disturbed by chatter from the others. As things stand many may be drifiting in to meet up to 4 p.m. The times on this have never been very rigid.
If some want to come in to write on Sunday, fine. I shall try to make it then, too, but not necessarily every week!
Does that suit everybody? I shall put it into the calendar, but it can be changed if there are other ideas.

I can't make the Saturday this week, I'll be up on Three Rock digging stones, but I might need to get out of the house on Sunday to avoid going nuts, so a Sunday afternoon write-in seems very tempting.

Of course you can, and there have been children in the room lots of times, so there should be no problem. Most of us are drinking tea and coffee, anyway.
