Has anyone already named the novel they are writing?
If so, what is it? Do you think that by naming your novel already it will encourage you more to complete it?
What is everyone's thoughts on the whole "novel naming" process?
I am just curious because usually when I write short stories or essays I leave the title to be the last part I complete, but since this project is bigger than that I almost want to be able to call it by a name, so that I can have something to relate back to, and thus see if that will keep me going all the way to the end.
Any replies would be much appreciated! :)

Yep, I always name mine in advance. This year's is Aisuru, To Love I always give mine a working title as a way to refer to it and give it an "identity", versus just being something like "oh, yeah, that novel thing". I do find it helps me focus on it and the story idea I have, plus it does encourage me more, like naming a baby :-) Whether it ends up being the final title is another matter, but thus far, almost all of mine start with a name before I ever actually write a word.

Name? Ha, right. I'm holding off from really even planning or thinking about my novel until Sunday rolls around. Except for what I've already written (what, i can't forsake my beginnings, and its not to much.)

I've got a tentative title for mine... though the novel itself is very much lacking in plans. Its more the word that is my starter inspiration for this year: Saranghae. Hopefully I can get something to come from that. I didn't name my previous attempts, I don't think - I certainly don't remember the titles if I did. Haha.

I wish I had a title for mine! The first year I participated, I already had a title. But this year I'm not exactly sure what I'm going to write about. Hopefully as it gets going, I'll be able to give it a name; it's nice to have at least a working title.
If only I wasn't so bad at coming up with good names...

I just came up with mine yesterday. I am a huge fan of 50s Vocal Jazz music (Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Ella Fitzgerald, Nat King Cole, etc) so I went onto a lyrics website and looked through titles of songs from a couple of these artists. "Somewhere Along the Way" is a Dean Martin song and although the lyrics don't fit perfectly, they do go well with some of the things that happen, but the title just fits well with my characters search for something and they find it "somewhere along the way"

Named my story yesterday after I had gotten the first bit written. It seemed such an obvious title when I went back and re-read what I had written, but I hadn't a clue before. Now it's offering some good direction to the story...

The working title for my story is Brothers. It is a coming of age story of two teenage boys, one human and one D’haurythi. Arian Rensalaer, the human teen, is from a merchant family. Raun Darkhri, the D'haurythi teen, is from one of the noble families in Rylandia. They are put together as roommates when Raun comes to the cadet training school for the Rylandian Border Guard. As they go through their training, Arian discovers he is a mage. Raun quickly rises through the ranks to become one of the best warriors the school has ever produced. Together, they form a skilled and deadly fighting unit. Their friendship is tested in battle seeral times, until one of them may be forced to give the ultimate sacrifice to save his friend.
It's definitely a fantasy, but it is not intended as a young adult novel. One of the main characters (I won't say which one at this point because that would give away part of the book, LOL!) has been with me a LONG time, and I know about many of his adventures. I wanted to write this story to fill out his background and give some explanations for why he is what he is.

My book is entitled "The Curious Village of St. Chapel." Partly inspired by Beatrix Potter, Professor Layton, Agatha Christie, and traditional folktales about faeries.
What happens when you throw a murder mystery coupled with a havoc-wreaking Unseelie Court into a sleepy little English, country hamlet? Guess I'll find out this month!

I still have no idea. I thought about Milites Christi but there was recently a movie made with that title. Found that out when I was doing a little research for the book. Soooo I have no idea now. But I will keep you updated.

I'm winging it with my story. I sort of have a plot but my characters have been taking control of my story.... I guess one of them will have to give me my title too.
