Hey guys! I saw in the intro thread that there were a handful of UCI kids and that we were all interested in meeting each other. I know we have the write-ins at Peet's in UTC (which is pretty much as close as you can get without actually being on campus, and I'll definitely be there!), but I think it would be fun to have at least one for students on campus as well so we could get to know each other better. Maybe it could take the place of one of the farther write-ins for those of us who are transportationally challenged while at school, haha. The Starbucks is always crowded, but it's open until midnight and it empties a lot later on. CyberA Café in the arts area is an option, too.
Any ideas? Convenient times? Place suggestions?

It would definitely be nice to have at least one meeting. As for places, you're right that Starbucks is always terribly crowded. My group for a project was trying to work there two weeks ago but it was way too noisy. I know that Java City in the engineering area is not as busy as Starbucks so maybe that could work.

All of those sound pretty good to me. I'm more worried about what night, since I'm busy around 7 much of the week (and of course I have a club meeting right when the Peet's one starts, though I'm sure I'd be able to stop into it later). Wednesdays are the best for me, personally.

This coming Wednesday I'm free after 8, hopefully (the club tends to run late); all other Wednesdays I'm done by 6ish. I'm down for a Wednesday if you all are. :) As for where, I've never actually been to Java City but it sounds like it'd work as long as it's open when we need it to be. I know some places on campus close ridiculously early.

Wednesday sounds brilliant - the one day I'm totally free. :) And yeah, a lot of places close pretty early on campus, but most of them just off campus stay open pretty late - the one with the most space is Lee's Sandwiches (I think they have Wi-fi too), but it's also more restaurant-like and not all that comfy. Cha stays open late too, but is busy and has limited space inside. Peet's might work well, we just have to check hours.
Regardless, I can swing by the Java City and check its hours right after this class.
EDIT: Looked online - it' only open 'til 7:30.

so pretty much what i'm getting is people meeting up wednesday, and we should all label ourselves, or make some code. Like we all put a colored piece of paper on the table or something.
