Since write-ins sound like they may be scattered and few/far between, let's introduce ourselves now.

I am a 20-year-old California native who has been living the Oregon life for the past four years. My interest in writing has existed since about as long as I could read. When I was younger, I wrote morbidly advanced poetry for my age, favoring the dark, complex, and abstract. My writing has evolved since then but my topic nestles itself right in the womb of adolescence, in the mind of a young woman who could not tell up from down, and collapsed beneath the rubble in a world of contradiction.

The biggest struggles I face in writing are: not editing as I go, convincing dialogue, settling on one perspective, and a driving plot. My advantages include my stubbornness, my background in poetry (usually makes for interesting prose), and my real life experience that I expect to drive the plot.

I love coffee and intellectual stimulation, both at the same time make me a happy girl. Outside of writing, I work in broadcasting and also own my own small business. I have a green thumb and an overactive imagination.

Pleasure meeting you.

I'm a 27 year old plasma technician who works at CSL plasma :-p. I got roped into this by a friend from another forum after I'd mentioned I was dealing with some major writers block on my third novel, and well, here I am. I mostly focus on fantasy, but also enjoy dabbling in poetry, research papers, and sermons (Yes, I'm an ordained and licensed minister).

Right now my biggest struggle is finding time to just be able to sit down and write. I carry a notebook everywhere, but it's kind of a faux pas to pause while screening a plasma donor to write something down (doesn't mean I don't do it anyways.... ^^; ).

I am a major nerd as well as a gamer girl, so a lot of my stories often wind up being influenced by my background (and HIGHLY overactive imagination). If anyone is ever in CSL plasma, say hi to the crazy screener with the monkey stickers! I promise after the initial blank look, I'll be friendly if you mention NaNoWiMo.

Hi there! I am a 13 year old Grants Pass native. This is my first time ever doing something as big as this. In fact, I just learned about it about an hour ago. I do have a fanfiction account, which is where I do most of my writing. I like to write fantasy or base my stories off real life drama or a mixture of the two. I would like to think that I am somewhat of a good writer, but I don't really think so. I am OCD about little errors, even though I make them all the time. I have some problems with sticking to a story and finishing it through, wich is why I am doing this competition.

I travel around a lot. I guess I would be considered a textbook nerd: always writing, all honors, over achiever, yadda, yadda, yadda. I like to make jewelry, mainly hemp. When I grow up I either want to be a psychologist or a writer. Sounds a little weird for job options, but, hey, it's what I wanna do. :)

I'm 16 (17 in mid-NaNo), and I'm a junior at Grants Pass High School. I've been writing since I was about this big (imagine my hand down around my hip), probably since my dad teaches high school English and I've therefore grown up in a fairly literary family. I generally write fantasy, scifi, or something similar, mostly because I have trouble coming up with original ideas otherwise. This year, I've got a futuristic, semi-post-apocalyptic thing planned.

Aside from writing, I like reading (obviously), swimming, playing the violin, and that fabulous extracurricular known as Speech and Debate. I'm in mostly honors classes, so I'm a little worried about fitting NaNo in between all the reading I have to do for school, but I'm (mostly) optimistic!

And if anyone in GP is thinking about it, I would definitely be open to some write-ins in town this year!

I'm a 62 year old software developer, native to the Rogue Valley. I started doing Nano 5 years ago while living in Norway, now back home and digging in, so to speak. I like SF, Fantasy and Historical Fiction, not necessarily in that order. I've published a few bits of poetry and am struggling to learn the craft of larger bits of prose. I've been beating on the plot dragon for years now, and finally think I have him subdued, well, from time to time. Characterization and believable dialogue are my current focus, but not during Nano. The time approaches to just make the keyboard smoke. Who knows, maybe this year I'll do it!

Any meetups would be good. It'd be nice to find a local critique group for the subsequent refining of first drafts.

Good luck to us all!

T.

I'm a 38 year old who recently became disabled. This unfortunate circumstance has provided me with the opportunity to try something I always feared - writing my first novel. Stories have floated through my brain for as long as I can remember, but I never seemed to have the time to write. Now that I have an enormous about of time, I have committed to completing my novel, for better or worse, by November 30th. From there I suppose I will be editing that same novel for the next 11 months!

One other tid-bit of information: We very recently moved to the area, so I'm open to any meetups suggested!

Good luck to everyone!

I'm an 18-year-old, first-year-NaNoer who, as you can tell from my word count box, is way behind on the current quota. I've spent my entire life (or at least what I remember of it) in Oregon and spent most of that time writing. What started out as a few poorly written poems and a love of literature quickly transformed into a desire to write novels for a living, and I've been working away on various projects ever since. My topics are as widely varied as the aspects of my personality and have been known to range from urban fantasy to surreal horror to supernatural westerns (yes, you read that correctly). Being a teenager, my protagonists are generally around my age, as I doubt I'm really worldly wise enough yet to write a convincing mother character--though that's not to say that there aren't a few ideas bouncing around my brain with such a focus.

My dialogue efforts are 50/50: Sometimes I love it, sometimes I hate it to the depths of my literary soul. I have a knack for description, though, and if given the option between developing a convincing plot in 3000 words or spending 1500 of those words describing a patch of wall, I'm likely to opt for the latter.

Outside the writing world, I'm an acting hopeful in college who hopes to live in Puerto Rico for a bit after the collegiate years have ended. I am known among my friends for being exceptionally weird and occasionally awkward, and for frequently pestering them to come to lunch with me.
