I tried both yesterday and tonight to get into the AIM Alaska Nano chatroom and failed to get in both times. The popup said "AIM error: AIM timed out.
I downloaded AIM 2.0 for Macs, thinking my new computer needed a faster program. It still wouldn't let me in. It specifically said there wasn't a problem with iChat. (iChat seems a little different on my new system software. Well, new as in 8 months, but this is the first time since I got the computer I tried using iChat.)
Has anyone else tried to get in and failed? If it's happening to everyone, maybe we should switch to something else.
Also, should we start a new thread, for AIM names so we can update our buddy lists?

I'm using Pidgin on both Windows and Linux and every time I try to join the chat (or ANY AIM chat), it does absolutely nothing. :/
Would be nice to get a chat figured out soon...

The aknano chat seems to be borked; I usually go into alaskanano. You can alqways IM me for an invite-- kerianawilliams.

Hmm, I got in easy with Adium. But iChat did nothing. More experimenting....

Okay, it's an easy fix: if using iChat, be sure to write the chat room name "alaskanano" all one word, as that is how, apparently, the Nano-ers who started it today typed it.
Adium doesn't care whether you have a space between "Alaska" and "Nano" or not. If someone with Trillian or PC AIM can check this out, that would be nice.
From last year I didn't remember any issue regarding spaces in the name. Blurg.

I tried to get in again a few minutes ago, using "alaskanano" and couldn't get in with ichat. Again. Very irritating.
Keri has offered to pull me if I can't get in, but she doesn't seem to be available. Or maybe she is, but my computer isn't interfacing well with AIM. Still, frustrating.

I've had it work fine with both iChat and Adium.
I think web-based chat is chock full of problems, plus it's very slow compared to our current set-up. Are you on a PC or a Mac? We're good at helping each other work out the problems.

My screeen name is JMacAngel, sometimes rendered in all lowercase depending on the chat engine. I used to be a Mac trainer. :o)

Sorry for not getting back sooner. First time I've been online since yesterday afternoon. I'm scallywag155 on AIM. (I was Scallyawag on Mac.com.) (ummm....Maybe I should go back to Mac.com and forget the AIM acct. this year).
I tried again and couldn't get in. I started updating my buddies list on my new computer and have you, Jeano, and Keri Williams so far.

At the moment, I have been unable to get into any chatroom with AIM for roughly an hour and a half. I spent a good deal of that time trying alternatives to get back into the AIM chatroom 'alaskanano' but to no avail.

So, for those of us (or just me) who are complete AIM Noobs, can someone post how to find/enter a chat room through AIM and, if it exists, how to permanently add said chatroom to our AIM account? I got an invite and then my computer booted me and I can't navigate my way back in...lol

One of the methods that is frequently spoken about is adding yourself as a contact then right click for Buddy Chat. Then enter alaskanano in the chat name. The other way to get into the buddy chat window is just hitting alt+c, enter your name in the screen name to invite text box, and then alaskanano in the chat room text box.
