Hi, I'm a first timer at all this. I'm looking for work ethics (people in Irving/SMU area/HEB) to piggyback on. I'd really love to meet and work with/around other area writers. Let me know if you're in the area and want to meet up to write together.

Pk, first of all, welcome to the madness! :D
There are several threads for write-ins in the area. There's going to be a Midnight Write-in Saturday night at the IHOP at 121 & Glade in Euless starting about 10 pm, with a meet and greet session before the midnight writing madness begins.
There is also a regular Tuesday night group that will be meeting at the Borders Bookstore in Colleyville, (Hwy 26 & Hall Johnson Rd area) from 7pm until they kick us out at 10 pm. The Colleyville group is also a regular critique group if you are interested in that for after NaNo. And, yes, they DO kick us out at 10. Hasn't stopped us from continuing the critique group outside on their patio furniture though!: D

Hey-ya! I'm an Irving-first-timer as well. There's a lot that's going on, just poke through some of the topics and whatnots. The calendar is your friend! If you're in north Irving, LMDershem and I are planning on meeting Monday's after work at the La Madeline off of 114 & Macarthur (More info here). I live off of the 183 & Beltline area and I'm all for setting up stuff and writing and whatnot!
Glad you're joining us!!

I'm another Irving first-timer, also near 183 & Beltline. I am interested in group writing sessions and/or get-togethers. Le Madelaine sounds good, as do Barnes & Noble coffee area at 183 & Beltline; Argentine Coffeehouse/Bakery several doors down from 1/2 Price Books; Starbucks; or what-have-you.

If you mean the B&N at Irving Mall, I might suggest against it, at least on a weekend. A few of us held a critique session and a write/edit-in on back to back Saturday afternoons in May and it was horrible. That B&N is an entrance into the mall, and there are always people coming and going, and the coffee machines are going non-stop. Plus parking was always a bear to deal with.

I really wanna come - but I also know that my schedule is a bit nuts, so you might not want to plan on me. I'm also something of a chronic planner........ Not sure if you guys want this to be a weekly thing or just whenever we all have time. Any ideas?
My schedule's is something like this:
- Mondays I'll be in Irving @ La Madeline writing as much as possible
- Tuesdays I'd hoped to alternate between the Colleyville group and the Dallas Half-Priced Books group if possible - I could be tempted away :P
- Wednesdays I volunteer and Thursdays my friends come over and watch The Office. They at least understand I'll be writing during commercials. I'm open for people to come over and write and hang-out then, just know I have a cozy apartment ^__^
-Weekends are hit and miss because I'll be out of town the second weekend and volunteering another, but making plans to write as much as possible whenever I can.
What do you guys think?

This Chilean agrees that the Argentine Bakery is an EXCELLENT location. Does it have power outlets? I know it has manjar and other yummy-yummies...

I'm not sure about the power outlets, though tables are sort of sparse. I can probably swing by on my way to my friends place tonight and check, talk with who ever is working and let them know we're interested in coming in a few times and hanging out there.

Okay - sorry - got to this today. I only saw one outlet, but it was semi-busy in there today and I didn't think people would like me asking them to move over an inch so I could look at the wall. There are upright drink coolers against the wall so there has to be outlets on the wall, the question is if we can get to them or not. I could be good for a like two hour write-in there with my battery if we then decided to move to someplace else. Potbelly's is usually pretty quiet on weeknights and I know they have quite a few outlets - so that might be a good place to consider.

Ya know what would be a great place?
Panera Bread on 183 & um, Precinct Line? Not sure but that place! They have a backroom I've seen people using. Anyone interested in looking into this?

Corner Bakery has a lot of seating and outlets. There's one at 114 and O'Connor and one just north of George Bush on Macarthur. Big porches too, and a good combination of readily available caffeine and actual food.

I don't know how many of you have weekday availability, but I was thinking of meeting up at one of the Corner Bakeries (O'Connor and 114 or Macarthur between George Bush and 635) this week sometime for afternoon and/or evening. Good food, good coffee, etc. If nobody's down I'll probably go anyway and work by myself, so no worries. Anybody have opinions or suggestions for times (or other venues, I guess. I like Corner Bakery because there are outlets and the coffee is good.)?

We're meeting tomorrow around 5pm at La Madeline off of 114 & Macarthur. I'll only be there for an hour tomorrow, but the rest of the month I should be there for a long time. Last I was there they also had free wifi :) I'm updating the posting about this.

I'll be heading to LaMadeline's directly after work (5pm is when I get off) but I too have to leave around the same time Cid does.
Monday write-ins are just about all I can do for now as I have bowling Tuesdays and I don't want to end up estranging my husband and mother-in-law the rest of the week. :D

See my post a few above. I've got scheduling kinks to work out, but Wednesday or Thursday at the Corner Bakery at O'Connor and 114 is probably the best bet.

I've been without a car. I could get a ride there, but I couldn't get one back. Definitely game for later this week. Maybe Thursday at 5 at the Corner Bakery at 114 and O'Connor? That's best for me.

Awe - we'd already been there and left by then. Next week we plan on staying later - or at least I do. This week I had stuff going on that kept me.
I can't do Wednesdays or Thursdays; I volunteer and then I host a weekly Office watching party - which is open if anyone else wants to come and join the fun :)

Sunday would be peachy, but I won't be ready to go until about 5:30. If that works, that's fantastic. As I mentioned, the Corner Bakery (I think you said you work near there) at 114 and O'Connor is the best place for me, but I'm flexible. Your call.
Also, I don't know how to put stuff on the calendar.
