Hello All,

I am just starting this thread to give people the ground rules for write-ins. Please feel free to add any that you think I miss.

- The most important - people are there to write! The primary rule is if someone has their headphones on and is feverishly typing, or staring longingly at their screen or paper, please do not bother them. When someone is in nano-mode it is very poor manners to interrupt their stream of consciousness! Most people take a break every 45min to an hour. Please wait until they look up and remove their headphones before talking with them.

- Please be considerate of people nearby writing. Having a loud philosophical debate while people are trying to write is very distracting. Not saying to not talk, just please be considerate.

- Remember that you are representing Nanowrimo in public. Please act responsibly.

- If you have an extra surge protector, bring it! An outlet with two plugs doesn't go very far when 5 people show up. I usually have two in my truck during nano.

- If we are meeting at a place of business, ie Panera, please purchase a drink or something. This makes it much easier to work with them in the future.

- Have fun!

I think that covers the major ones... please add to it if you feel I forgot something.

On the flip side...even if you don't listen to music while you write (and most of us do), it is still a nice way to signal when you're working and when you're taking a break to bring your headphones/earbuds/whatever you listen to. That way people know without asking if you're midthought or if you're ready for a discussion of work.
