Anyone else here in Miami County? Or am I all alone up here? I'm new to the area and would like to possibly meet up with Wrimo neighbors.

I'm not aware of Miami County people...although you are absolutely welcome to join us...and some of the write in's are up on Miller Lane, so it's not a terrible distance if you want to meet up with writers!

There are several of us in Miami County...I am in Bethel Twp and this is my fourth NaNo (two successes).
A couple of good places in Miami County would be the Night Sky (downtown) and Boston Stoker (off SR 55 at I-75).

I'm in Clayton, just south of the county line. I go up to Troy a lot to write since the Clayton/Englewood Boston Stoker is okay, but I like the Troy one and Night Sky better. Last year no one ever came to the Miller Lane or Englewood Boston Stoker write-ins, so if you wanted to set something up further north, I'd be open to discussing that.

I know where the Boston Stoker is in Englewood, although I've never been in. I go to the Boston Stoker in Troy usually. Night Sky is near to where I live. There is also a Panera in Troy (although I wouldn't recommend that for a write-in) and also a Grounds for Pleasure in Tipp City. I was considering going to write-ins at englewood, but if nobody else goes that's a bit of a far drive for me to not have anyone to meet up with. I might be able to make some of the stuff on Miller Lane... although that's a bit of a drive too, so it would depend on my work schedule.

I'm another Miami County resident living in Troy. However, I work second shift and have a 6 on 3 off schedule so I'm not always available.

I live south of the Dayton Mall, but I plan to be at Artisan's Cafe in Englewood every Saturday morning this month from about 8:00am to about noon or 1:00pm. I usually have company, and would love more. It's a great writing space, and the food can be good, too. Hope to see some of you there!

I'm writing in the Pleasant Hill area and end up at Night Sky or Winan's fairly often, though not on any kind of a regular schedule and usually in the evenings. I also stop by Broadway Joe's in Greenville.

It's good to know that there are a few NoWris in Miami County, anyway.

Since Saturday afternoon didn't have anything planned last time I looked at the calendar, what would anyone think of doing a write-in at Night Sky then? I know they generally have music in the evenings, but say something like 2:00-6:00? Or alternatively, how about one for Friday evenings, around 6-9?

Did you know that Artisan's moved? It's not in Englewood, it's over in Clayton now. It's almost literally right next door to Boston Stoker (there's a gas station in between them), about a mile south of I-70 on 48.

I'm in Greenville as well, but I'm a newbie. I live pretty close to Broadway Joe's, so I plan to go over there to write quite a bit. It's a decent place to do homework, so it should be a good place to write as well. Montage (a few doors down in the middle of the same block) is really good as well, along with having awesome food. They both serve Boston Stoker coffee, which is a huge plus :D

I'm in Pleasant Hill! I didn't imagine there'd be anyone near me; no one ever seems to be anywhere convenient.

6-9pm on Fridays at Night Sky sounds absolutely gorgeous for me, but I can do the last two Saturday options if necessary - this week I'm booked all weekend (being Sat and Sun).

Good luck, everyone! I need it most!

Who would have thought there would be two of us in Pleasant Hill. That's half the population! ;).

As of right now, I can do Saturday afternoon at Night Sky. However, I work at 4:30 so I'd have to leave at 4:15. We are talking the seventh, yes?

I'd been thinking of putting something weekly for up north. I'm the co-ML for north of Dayton, so I'd just have to ask Walker to put it on the calendar for us. But yeah, the 7th sounds fine to me.

If we do a weekly meetup, does anyone have a preference for Saturday evening or Friday afternoon? Or are there any other suggestions?

Wow, P-hill should start it's own NaNoWriMo chapter or something. I'll have to tell my wife (the native P-hillian) an maybe she'll finally join too.

Well, Saturday the 7th is looking like a no-go for me. I could maybe drop by for an hour or so in between shifts (I got begged to work Saturday AM. For now, as far as Friday or Saturday nights go, I have the 13th (ooh, a write-in on Friday the 13th sounds like fun!) and the 20th off work after 2pm. I work both of those Saturdays. Friday nights are a winner for me!

Well, I've heard two votes that Friday night works best for a meetup, so I went ahead asked Walker to add Friday nights 6-9 at Night Sky as a weekly thing. Come or don't as you like, of course, and feel free to suggest another time if there's one that works better for you.

I didn't end up going this week (erm, right now) because I entirely forgot, and it's too much of a hassle to move my father from his television chair. I'll do my best to come next week.

That's okay. I went up tonight, got there about ten after, and realized that maybe Friday night at six isn't such a good idea for Night Sky. I forgot they do that buffet dinner on the weekend evenings. There wasn't anywhere to park and not a single open table. And it was loud. Being crowded and shrieking small children are two things I dislike very much, so I just went home.

I had to work tonight, so I couldn't make it. The next two fridays I am off though. Maybe a different location then? I didn't know Night sky had a buffet at night. What do you all think would be a good location for friday nights? Or perhaps a night earlier in the week might be better?

Oh hey. Sorry to let this slip, I'm pretty much not doing NaNo anymore. But now I'm feeling a little Irish Catholic Upbringing guilt at not having been better at planning things for up north.

We just have the one week left, but I've been scoping places out. What I've found so far:

It's useless to try to get into Night Sky on Friday night, but it would probably be doable on a weekday evening.

There's a really nice little coffee house in Tipp City, Grounds For Pleasure, that has a back room that looks like it'll probably hold four or five people. Parking can be a little tricky, but I found a good-sized public lot about a block away last night). Didn't really notice much a difference in the amount of people there between last night and Wednesday night.

Grounds for Pleasure has a branch in north Clayton (on US 40 a little east of Northmont Middle and High Schools) with a large back room which has been entirely empty both times I've gone. The whole place has been entirely empty both times I've gone, actually.

Any interest in setting up a meeting or two?
