Greetings, All!

My name is Laura, and I wanted to let anyone in the Oxford area know that my husband, kids, and I are planning some writer get-togethers during NaNoWriMo. We will be meeting at the west-side High Point (by Belk) on Saturdays at 11:30. Our first get-together will be this Saturday, Oct. 31st. We will continue to meet every Saturday through November, and we can talk about how to celebrate our success when the madness has ended!

Adult and youth program writers are welcome. We'll consume sugar and caffeine and be available to each other as a distraction or encouragement. Come and chat, come and get advice, or just come and write in the presence of others who "get it."

If you would like to get in touch with me, email is your best bet: apollosacademy@gmail.com

Hope to see you Saturday!

Laura

If you'd like, I can try to coordinate the more major of my Tupelo events - the midway and similar meetings/parties - so that anyone from the Oxford area who wants to come won't have to choose between the two. Anyone from Oxford is still more than welcome to come to any of the Tupelo write-ins and such.

In fact, I encourage you all to come to the parties at the least. I've got something special planned for the halfway party in particular, and also for the end-of-NaNo party (though that one hasn't been set in stone yet), and I'd hate for y'all to miss out on it.

Thank you! That's very kind of you.

Our meetings are going to be more low-key and casual. The only "big" event I was thinking was a "we did it" party at the end, so being able to attend bigger events in Tupelo would be great.

Thanks!

It's no problem at all. ^^ Like I said, I'd hate for you all to miss out on the bigger events, and I know write-ins will be easier if you keep it local. And again, you're all welcome to attend any of our write-ins, too. I plan to have some in the middle of the week, as well. Just let me know when you plan to schedule your "we did it" party, and I'll try to get mine scheduled the day before or after so you all can attend both.

Oxford's pretty close to me. I'm in Sardis, sometimes Senatobia. I may try to come out on occasion, though I know this weekend I won't be there. :)

I for one would be interested in participating, as an Oxfordian. I hope the schedule can be set so I can attend the occasional Tupelo event as well, since I imagine there will be different groups of people in each (and going to Tupes is a good excuse to shop or see a movie anyhow).

Stupid question: 11:30 AM or 11:30 PM? As a university town, both seem equally likely.

I just saw this, so I missed yesterday's meet up! I'll try to come, though Saturday's in November aren't likely for me since it's football season and we have 3 home games. (I'm currently trying to figure out how to write enough during the week to make up for not writing on the weekends, since we'll have company every weekend. It should be interesting!) But maybe after the next 3 home games I can make it!

Good luck, everyone! This is my first NaNo and I'm LOVING it!

Hee hee!

I'd love to meet at 11:30pm, but unfortunately High Point isn't open that late, so we'll be meeting at 11:30am.

Anyone have any tips for writing when you're sick? I've written nothing since I was slammed with a head cold (influenza of the pig?) on the 1st.

Ugh. I shouldn't have mentioned being sick. I've been getting worse as the day has gone on. I hate to do this, but I am going to have to bow-out of tomorrow's (11/7) meetup. I think I need to sleep, hydrate, and write when I can keep my eyes open.

Hopefully I'll be healthy and back into the swing of things the following Saturday, 11/14.

Happy writing! I look forward to meeting everyone next week.

I was wondering why no one was here! I'm at the coffee joint right now and probably will be for another hour or so, if any Nanos are there or en route. Looks for the nerd in the corner with a striped sweater and silver Mac laptop.

Did anyone else brave the LSU football traffic to stop by today? I'm the lady with the three kids in the corner. Come on over and say hi!

I was there around 12:15 or so. Guess I missed you.
