EDIT: Here's the scoreboard!
As of 10am on day 12, we are 4th! Soon we will rule the world! ;)
------------------------
Every year there is a regional word war for all the regions in the UK.
I've been asked if we want to take part. The aim is to get the highest AVERAGE word count, so it doesn't matter how many actual participants we have in the region.
It sound like lots of fun and is an added incentive to reach our 50k targets.
Who would like us to take part?

I think it's a great idea! I've only done NaNo a couple of times, but I've found the word wars to be a great writing boost every year. That's my two cents, anyway.
Good luck everyone!

I don't remember this happening last year, but it sounds ideal for getting your word count up. Count me in.

Well sure, since I intend to do at least 50k words anyway, it wouldn't hurt for it to go towards a good cause! (The cause being kicking the other regions' BUTTS xD). If we do well this might go a little further towards 'breaking the stereotype'. ;3

I love seeing how many words we can write together, and how we measure up against the rest of the world. So another YES from me!

I'm in. I have been writing everyday from a lousy 200 words to a more magnificent nearly 7000 words so I have no idea how it will pan out in practice as I am not accustomed to writing Stories but other genre but still, here goes.

I'm up for it - last time I did this, I was in the so evocatively titled England Elsewhere group that did very well in the various WordWars, so hopefully I can do my bit for Essex this time.

I have added everyone in this list to the word war. Please make sure you have had a look at the rules in the Word War Rules thread (now formatted to be more use friendly).
The important bit is about updating your word count regularly.
If anyone else wants to join the word war (it's a great motivator!) then just post here and I'll add you :)
----------But you must post here before 8pm on 10th Nov! (see rules).

Haha, well that's cool. Who was the eventual winner? Word wars and races of any sort are great motivators. I want to race one of my friends, but most of them have a lot more real-life commitments than I do, so it wouldn't really be fair... Mind you, my laziness and tendency to get distracted balances that out to some extent. xD

Please remember that you need to update your word count preferably at least every other day.
If you do not update your word count for 8 days you will be removed from the competition. (I have had to remove 2 people all ready!)
If you are in the competition please try to keep to the daily word targets and aim to get as many words written as possible.
Team Essex is counting on you! :D
WELL DONE to those people who are ahead of the daily target, you are a lovely green colour in my spreadsheet!

Oh yeeah, I'd nearly forgotten about that rule, but I'm obsessive about watching my graph go up anyway (and I have a thing about keeping a record of everything) so it hasn't been an issue. :3 It's a good system for ensuring that people who drop out of NaNo don't become, well, deadweights for their region. XD *competitive*
Is that a spreadsheet you've made yourself, or a special feature you have access to as ML? (I wanna see it! =D)

It's a spreadsheet I made myself.
You won't see it as it's only on my PC and I don't really want to bandy about other people's info :D
But let it be known that there are red people. Come on, update your word counts! :D
