Return of the Gifted Boarding School!

Hope walked into the school, a smile on her face. She missed this place terribly over the summer but she would have felt terrible if she had not gone to see her aunt at all. Her dark eyes scanned the entryway as she flipped her long black hair over her shoulder. What she really missed, to be honest with herself, was Oliver. Hopefully the summer had treated him better than the school year.

A hand clamped on her shoulder and she looked up, smiling at her old friend Zane. He was grinning down at her. "If you ever change your mind about that Oliver character, you know where to find me," he said, winking at her and letting go of her shoulder, looking around the school. "Feels good to be back, doesn't it?"

"It does," Hope agreed, her Indi accent thick. "Did you have a good summer at the lake?"

Zane scrubbed a hand through his hair and she frowned, seeing new scars on his arm. "I guess not," she murmured. "I should have gone with you."

"Yes, you should have," Zane teased, grinning.

Hope rolled her eyes at him. "Your passes would have been endless, I think."

"So would yours," Zane sighed with mock disappointment. He looked around, then pulled her bag off her shoulder. "Let's get to our rooms, shall we?"

"I hope I'm close to you again," Hope said, clearly looking worried. "I would feel terrible if you died because I was too far away to help you."

"No worries. I still have my stash of superglue." He winked and they started walking toward the stairs.

"Your hair is longer," Hope noted as they went.

"Yours is shorter. It happens."

"Well. Here we are. The gifted boarding school for those of us who are gifted." Rexx stood beside Ruby, throwing an arm around her shoulders. He looked down at her, grinning up at the main building of the school; they were standing just outside the front doors.

Ruby flicked at his arm several times, but he didn't move it. She rolled her eyes, but smiled brightly. "Yep! I'm excited, Rexx. Do you think there'll be lots of nice people?"

"If I'm lucky, there'll be lots of hot girls who can do interesting things." He sighed wistfully with a longing look into the distance.... "Ow!" he looked down at Ruby, who had smacked him in the stomach.

"Be decent...sheesh! You're not going to be the school heart-breaker, Rexx," she said, her tone lilting.

"Yeah, yeah, I know." He paused, looking down at her....then glared. "Ruby!"

She just grinned and danced away from him. "Let's go find some people to meet!"

"Well, we're here," Garnet said. She tossed her red hair over her shoulder and looked at her sister. "You excited?"

Aquamarine was bouncing beside her sister. "Yes! And there'll be people here! Other people besides you and Amethyst and Diamond."

"Hey, I thought you liked hanging out with us," the older girl said as she walked down the hall. Aquamarine giggled.

"Yeah. But you're my sisters. There's only some amount of time I can hang around you before I get sick of you. Plus I want to see if there's anyone with interesting powers. Ohh! And I want to see if there's someone else who can do this!" She crouched down, seeming to shrink, and transformed into a small puppy, peering up at her sister with aquamarine eyes. Garnet rolled her eyes and held her arms out for her sister to jump in. Settling down, the puppy gave Garnet a small grin.

"If there's someone else who could do that, I don't know if I'd be able to handle it. Let's go see if we can find some more people," Garnet said. Her sister barked in agreement.

"Stand up for what's right, even if you're standing all alone."

Arren walked into the hall, looking around with an almost pained expression. He should have chosen jail time. "All this because of a couple of cars?" he muttered under his breath.

Walking through the forest, Lyrad was on the arm of her brother, looking down at her new outfit warily.

"I have to admit, I am very nervous." she told him in her soft, lyrical voice.

"Why be nervous? Mother sent us down here to behave like savages with a bunch of common people. It is a waste of our time, sister." Ialyn 'calmed' her, his haughty voice sounded very attractive. Casaetria walked behind the two siblings quietly, a look of wonder on her face as she looked at her surroundings. This was what Earth was like? Everything was so... different!

Wearing a long flowing skirt, and silk blouse, both garments looking like they cost money, Lyrad tried to keep herself calm. "I still do not know about this. What if everyone is mean to me?" she asked him as they reached the front door of the school.

"Trust me, they would not think of it, or else Cass and I will do away with them, will we not?" he turned back to smile at the naiad who laughed with a nod, her stomach doing butterflies at his smile.

"Besides, you are so nice Lyrad! They will love you for sure!" the short girl piped up, her blue hair tied back in a loose, yet intricate knot in the back of her head. She was wearing a black skinny jeans with a paint splattered tshirt that gave away her spunky attitude. Meanwhile, Ialyn was wearing what looked to be a very expensive pair of jeans, and button up shirt that was rolled to his elbows.

"Ready for this?" he asked with a slight smirk.

The school towered over Amelia as she made her way out of the car. At least she will not be judged for being a freak at this school. They were a community of freaks joined together. The new school was different from what she was used to, more durable you could say. Her last schools did not last if she wanted to play with some fire. With a small grin, she pulled her bag over her shoulder flicker her finger. A small flame appeared, dancing from left to right.

"This she be fun," she said to herself walking. Students have already started gathering around. A girl and a boy stood off the the side. The boy has a good nature look to him, and the girl looked annoyed by him

Walking up to the couple she stuck out her hand,"Hey there! The names Amelia. I'm new here and do not know where to go, do you think you can help me?"

((She is talking to Rexx and Ruby if you didn't know))

Rexx looked over, shooting Amelia a broad, attractive grin. "Well, well hi there. I'm Rexx." He pulled his hand out of his pocket and held it out to her, tossing his head a bit. "I'm sure we can help you. Not a problem whatsoever."

Ruby glanced over, then smiled as well. "Hi Amelia. I'm Ruby... ignore him, it'll you do wonders," she said, rolling her eyes at Rexx. "But yeah, we'd be more than happy to help. Have you been all registered and stuff? That's the first thing, but you should've gotten a letter in the mail that says where you're living. Did you by chance get that...? Otherwise I can take you where you need to go."

The voice of what might have been a young girl sounded over the intercom.

"WELCOME, NEWCOMERS AND OLD FRIENDS ALIKE, TO THE GIFTED BOARDING SCHOOL. I AM SOOOOOO HAPPY THAT ALL OF YOU CHOSE TO COME THIS YEAR, AND IF YOU ADHERE TO THE PROPER PROCEDURES AND PROTOCOLS I'M SURE WE CAN ALL HAVE A SAFE AND FUN- EEE, HOPE, IS THAT YOU?!"

Just then a girl who might have been eight came speed-walking down the stairs, not wanting to break the 'no running' rule. She was wearing a yellow jumper, and her straight brown hair was pulled back with a matching headband. She was grinning at Hope.

"I missed you so much! Oliver's done nothing but talk about you all summer, I think he likes you a lot." She threw her arms around the other girl's waist, then turned to grin at her companion. "Hey Zane, are we still having the meetings of that enforcer group you set up? Oh by the way, you're rooming with Oliver, in case you want to get your stuff moved in early. He should be heading down the elevator now. I've no idea what's taking him so long." She glanced around at the newcomers and smiled. "I should probably welcome the newbies. This year is going to be such fun!"

The girl turned to address the others who'd gathered. "Hello, sorry about that little interruption- hang on." She started over. This time, her voice came through the intercom as well.

"Sorry about that little interruption everyone, I got distracted. Anyways, I'm Jenny Edinburgh, head of security here at GBS. If you have any concerns regarding security, structural integrity of the building, other students, outside threats, your studies, or pretty much anything else, feel free to ask. Just say something to one of my cameras, and I'll find you."

Arren watched the little girl hurry down the steps to hug the other student, then listened to the announcment. "This is going to be a very long year," He muttered to no one in particular.

Aquamarine barked at the sound of the voice coming over the intercom, obviously startled. Garnet laughed.

"Oh, calm down, Aqua. It's just the intercom." Garnet continued to listen, laughing when Jenny claimed to have gotten distracted. "Well, I guess we know who to turn to if we get lost..." Suddenly, Garnet noticed the absence of the puppy in her arms.

"Aqua?" Garnet looked around. "Aqua? Oh, c'mon! We just got here and I"m going to have to run around and look for you?" Garnet sighed exasperatedly. She heard a bark and dashed towards it.

Aquamarine had dashed over to Jenny, unable to control her dog instincts at the moment, sniffing at the girl's shoe.

"Stand up for what's right, even if you're standing all alone."

Ialyn looked down at the little girl, Jenny, and frowned. "Question, why is a child in head of the security? What exactly is the security levels at this school? I do not think you should be fit to run the se-"

"Ialyn..." Lyrad spoke up, placing a gentle hand on his upper arm. She smiled shyly at the little girl as Cassaetria waved happily. "What my brother means is, how safe is it here? We have traveled a very long way, and he wants to ensure that we will be safe." she tucked some of her black hair behind a pointed ear.

Hope smiled at Jenny as she came racing over. She hugged her back looking down at her. "You got taller," she said. Hope herself had lost some weight over the summer. "Where will I be rooming then?"

"Seriously? I have to share a room with Oliver?" Zane shrugged and headed toward the stairs. "Just let me know what you wants me to do with your stuff Hope."

Samantha walked down the hall cautiously. She tried to draw as little attention to herself as she could. The unfamiliar faces of so many people surged past her. Time began to speed up, and her vision started blurring. Oh no, not again, why so soon? The world disappeared completely, and she felt her muscles lock. Soon another scene replaced it.

She was looking at a world covered in an unpenetrable darkness. Samantha had seen this place before. Many times. There were huge slabs of orange rock just floating there. Some of the rocks had green crystals growing on them. They glowed eerily.

Suddenly she started seeing the real world again.

"Final count, 42"
"42? That's not bad for a pointy-eared Elvish princeling. I myself am sitting pretty on 43"
"43"
"He was already dead"
"He was twitching"
"He was twitching, coz he's got my axe embedded in his nervous system!"

"I'd say maybe you just got shorter," Jenny replied cheekily, "but that's almost an impossibility, barring bone loss or- OLLIE LOOK WHO'S HERE!"

A young man in a wheelchair grinned over at them as he made his way away from the elevator. "Hope! It's great to see you again!" He saw Zane and his smile faded slightly, then came back. "Zane, did you have a good summer?"

"So it's a boarding school for freaks? We should fit right in, especially if you drop the disguise." Dominic looked up at the school.
"Don't be like that, they're gifted, not freaks." Kitty pouted, then took off, faster than most humans could run, in a hurry to reach the school. Her orangish-yellow hair blowing behind her. Then suddenly she crashed into another girl that had stopped walking (Samantha).
"God," Dominic hurried after her at a normal pace, "Please try not to kill someone our first day."

"It was alright," Zane replied. He grinned as he watched Hope and Oliver.

Hope walked over to Oliver and leaned down, giving him a hug. "How are you, Oliver?"

Samantha shook her head and continued walking, trying to make it look like nothing had happened. She hadn't noticed that she had been bumped into; she hadn't even swayed. Then she saw a young girl who couldn't have been more than nine talking with a few people, including a young man in a wheelchair. She made her way over shyly. Well, I'm going to be here with these people for nine months; I may as well start trying to make friends now. Besides, the girl reminded her of her own little sister. Though Samantha normally tried not to think about her sister. She got over to them after a second more of walking. "Hi, I'm Samantha."

Ialyn, Lyrad, Casaenatria ((I have REALLY got to remember their names >.<)) all walked inside of the school, and grabbed their schedules, and sleeping arrangements from the front office. As was expected, Cass, and Lyrad shared a room.

"Who is this Rexx?" Ialyn asked, a slight sneer appearing on his face. "I thought I asked for a room to myself." he said as he turned to go back into the front office. Lyrad touched his arm again with a shake of her head.

"Do no worry about it, brother. This is a Boarding School. You are supposed to share a room with somebody." she told him as he huffed.

"I do not want to share with a commoner." he muttered as Cassaenatria frowned, but didn't say a word. His royal fits were common back home, and quite annoying.

"Well... try for me?" Lyrad gave him a breath-taking smile as he nodded with a sigh.

"Of course... now I guess we should go find these... rooms we are to stay in."

"I'm doing great, Hope, honestly." He hugged her back. "How long has it been? It feels like a lot more than a few months."

"By the way," Jenny said nonchalantly, "Oliver, Zane's going to be moving in with you?"

Oliver looked a little surprised. "Oh... okay, I guess that'll work. It's a good thing I've taken to keeping my room clean; the bed's clear for you."

Jenny suddenly looked up. "Yes, Samantha Freans, age 17, sees into other dimensions, am I right?"

Amelia looked at the boys with a grin. "Step any closer and I will torch your butts," she thought shaking their hands. "Yeah, I'm registered I just need help finding my room."

Zane looked at Samantha and smiled. "Hello Sam. Zane." He held his hand out to her.

Kitty watched as the girl she ran into walked away, as though she hadn't even noticed being run into. After a moment she shrugged, and walked up to the group that was gathering, "Hi everyone! I'm Kitty. Eh, anyone know where I should go? I'm new to this worl- uh school."

Dominic Stayed several feet behind Kitty, not wanting to be noticed, while not wanting to be left out either.

Arren had already gotten his schedule and gone to sleep in his room.

Ruby smiled at her, tossing her head. "Sure! Come on, I'll take you. Rexx, go grab our schedules, kay?" She beckoned to Amelia and started inside. Rexx sighed, tossing his head and headed inside as well.

"That's right, make me do all the grunt work," he mumbled, walking over to the board where the students could pick up their schedules. He saw a little group of three people, all dressed fancy. He shook his head and shrugged, grabbing Ruby and his schedules.

Amelia looked over at Zane while he held his hand out to Samantha," Oh and my name is Amelia if you didn't know. You can call me Mia for short though."

Pulling out her lighter she played with the flame, making pictures in the air. What is her roommate was completely boring? Or worse she was a water bender. Water and fire do not mix. When a water bender puts out Mia's fire there is hell to be raised.

Ruby motioned for her and she followed her towards the school," Thanks again," she said with a easy smile. Ruby seemed like a nice enough girl to befriend. Rexx needed some shaping up to do.

Lyrad turned to find a boy just a little shorter than her grabbing a couple of schedules. Cass turned around to, and smiled brightly at him with a wave. It seemed as if the naiad was fitting in a lot better than she was.

"Great, more common filth." Ialyn muttered as Lyrad poked him softly.

"Stop being so stuck up. Queen Maerad sent us here for a reason."

"Dear mother only sent us because she was getting tired of me." Ialyn argued.

Hope gave Oliver a chaste kiss on the cheek and smiled at him. "I have missed you too," she said softly.

Zane looked around at all the girls, smiling politely at each. He looked at Oliver. "This is going to b a good year."

Rexx looked over, meeting the blue-haired girl's gaze. Well, now that was something he didn't see too often. He waved back, shooting her a bright, attractive smile. He mouthed to her, "Hi there." He folded up the two pieces of paper and put them into the back pocket of his jeans and straightened the knit khaki and green beanie on his head. His fiery-orange hair stuck out in spikes from beneath it.

Ruby led Amelia into the school and stopped at a staircase. "That's the stairs to the dormitories. If you can't find it, or want me to take you to your actual room, just let me know. It's pretty straight forward from here though," she said with a friendly smile.

((Going to bed. NIGHT!))

Cassaenatria gave him the boy a wide grin, turning from side to side a little. "Hi yourself." she mouthed back as she looked back to who she was supposed to be looking after. Biting her lip, she decided. They were High Sidhe... they could look after theirselves for five minutes.... right?

"Ialyn? Lyrad? I will be back in five minutes or less. I promise." she told them as Ialyn frowned, but Lyrad nodded with a smile.

Walking over shyly she smiled again. "Hi! I'm Cassaenatria, but you can call me Cass." she held her hand out for him to shake awkwardly. This was how humans did it... right? Naiads normally greeted people with a kiss on the lips, but... the Queen had said that a lot of her customs would not fit here on Earth, and that she should learn the new ones to fit in.
