This is my first year doing NaNoWriMo, but as always I can't stick to the rules, and so I'm spicing mine up a little by including poetry in it at the start of each chapter.
Is anyone else doing anything slightly different in their novel this year?

I haven't had any quirky ideas personally, but the poetry sound like a good idea.
I've read books with poetry or song lyrics at the beginning of chapters and I think it works well as long as they fit with the story. I've read books where the poetry reveals something about the history or some back story, so it doesn't have to be included in the actual story.
I may do something like that if I think my book lends itself to the format.

Good luck! :)

As long as you make sure the poetry is yours, because if not you're cheating. ;)

I will be doing a 'fake art journal' alongside my novel, meaning I will be keeping a paper journal/art journal as if I was my MC.
Can't wait to get started!

Ooo, that sounds like a good idea! You'll have to let me read some of it some time!
