Good Afternoon Ladies and Gentlemen:

I have looked into GoodSearch and would love to help NaNo get more money from them. Now at work I do numbers (amongst other things) so I am going to throw some numbers at you along with a different kind of challenge.

Bellow is the money that has been raised using GoodSearch. Circled in Red is the year to date and circled in green is what has been raised through searches alone. I am looking to really boost the searches alone for the month of November.

Bellow is a breakdown on the estimated amount of money a charity could bring in given certain criteria.

I have run the number and it is $0.01 (one cent) given to the charity per search.

We have 99 179 people who have joined NaNo. Now granted not all of them know about GoodSearch and not all will jump on board.

However, for arguments sake lets say approximately 50 000 people think this is a great idea. And let’s say they make an effort to search 5 things each day in November. That would be $75 000.00 (50 000 people X 30 days X 5 searches a day X .01 cents per search) for NaNo alone in the month of November.

I just don’t have words for how awesome that would be.

Now instead of searching adjectives (as had been suggested) because it might be viewed as fraudulent activity (or whatever), because honestly we are using it to boost NaNo stats. I say we pick five random people participating in NaNo and search the names of their novels and if they don’t have that search their names in GoodSearch.

I have searched myself. I don’t turn up in GoodSearch, but if I search Google, I turn up. I think it is kind of neat. Plus you might stumble across a blog and add to that person’s followings. I like when people follow my blogs.

I think this is completely possible. I know NaNo has more than enough numbers to really get a decent check coming in from GoodSearch. We just have to get the word out there.

I don’t really care what you search, so long as you do search. It takes less than five minutes out of your day.

Lets get this ball rolling.

Sorry guys. I forgot to include the link for GoodSearch http://www.goodsearch.com/?charityid=845878
You can also find more information in the About tab at the top and the Donating When Broke. Or you can search the NaNo site using the Google search in the Search tab and there are several threads on the forum talking about it too.

Sorry more info I thought I would post about GoodSearch as I find it.

this is from their FAQ's page:

What stops people from clicking just to raise money for their charity? What is meant by fraudulent searching?
We ask that you use this site honestly. As long as you use GoodSearch just as you would any other search engine, it's never a problem.
Fraudulent searching includes, but is not limited to, repeated manual clicks, the use of robots or other automated query tools, etc. This will result in the user being blocked from the site and/or the charity being de-listed.
While not expressly prohibited, searches to URL's (i.e., search terms ending in .com, .org, .net, .edu), searches to sites for which the URL is well known such as HotMail, ESPN, MySpace, Facebook, GMail, AOL, etc., and searches for stock quotes will not count toward a nonprofit's total searches and revenue.

Do all of my searches count toward donations?
All of your searches will count toward donations except for the following: 1) image searches; 2) video searches; 3) "search this site" searches; 4) searches for URL's (i.e., search terms ending in .com, .org, .net, .edu); 5) searches to sites for which the URL is well known such as HotMail, ESPN, MySpace, Facebook, GMail, AOL, etc.; 6) searches for stock quotes; 7) searches for word definitions; 8) Yellow Pages searches; 9) any searches generated from fraudulent use of the site.
