WOW!
I cannot believe I am going for this goal, but why not challenge myself. My English teacher had announced this contest to the class and I became infatuated with the though of writing 50,000 words. It seems impossible to me although I have a huge adventurous story bottled up in me and needs to be told.
My mom is being very supportive of this idea. This summer my stepdad, mom, and I took a wild trip to Brazil. After being locked up in the United States for 10 years it was time to go back home. The two months of fun brought me unforgettable memories on a rocking roller coaster. Just wait and read, nothing is made up, it's reality.
During the trip I met family, friends, and holes. I wanted to write a journal while I was there but my schedule was filled. I had to enjoy every minute and couldn't spend the time to sit and write. Now this wonderful opportunity has come across me. I am 15 years old and I am going to write my first novel.

That's the spirit! I'm so happy to see our younger people getting involved in this. I'm semi-retired, and thought I'd have lots of time to write, but I'm constantly reminded that you have to MAKE time, and that the more you put into it, the more you get out of this. You can do NaNo - it seems daunting, but I've done it for three years now, and it's something I could never imagine doing before I took that first hesitant 'leap'.
Good for your mother, too. Writing is a solitary profession by nature, and getting that support is key to success.
Good luck!

I think it's great that you want to write and are going for it. I wish my kids were more interested in writing and reading. I feel as if I failed as a mother sometimes because the younger two really don't care. The older two love to read, but none of them really want to write. I can't remember when I didn't want to tell stories, so it excites me that someone your age is going to do this. We're here for moral support! Good luck!

Give your English teacher a big old pat on the back for me. I love that English teachers are so supportive of this event. Congrats to you, and good luck, on your endeavor. You'll never forget it. :-)

We're having write-ins both on Sunday mornings & on Friday evenings, at the Panera on ISB. Please come, and don't worry about being "green"... we all started out that way! We'll look forward to seeing you there.

Hey Bruce- and Hey Group! - Dogwriter here (remember? Holly not Bonnie!). I stopped by Panero's the Sunday before the kickoff party & met you & Chris. Enjoyed your company and words of wisdom (really- no kidding). Sorry I missed the party, ended up working late. Hope ya'll had a good time...!
I DO like the idea of the Friday night write-ins, will try to make it this week.
Question: Bruce will you ever have a write-in at the Port Orange Panero's on Dunlawton? Closer to where we both live! Anybody want to join me there? There's also a great little bookstore/coffee shop called "The Bookstore" on Nova just south of Granada (next to Pickles restaurant). I could meet there if anyone's interested, I work right down the road. Early afternoons or after 6 or 7 PM, depending on the day of the week. Any takers? I need the write-ins, coffee and fellow writers to hold me accountable (gotta keep those Daytona word count numbers up!). I also hang out at Barnes&Noble whenever I can. Someone (sorry can't remember your name at the moment) sent earlier post about being at B&N tomorrow (Wed.) around 12:00-- mind if I stop by?? If you need a bribe, I'll buy the coffee....!
Chris- liked your pep talk. Listen to the cloud... do you grok? (did I spell that right?)
