Hi guys.
Finally got it working, but it's not imbedded on my site, I'm happy with this place enough to offer a direct link to the server where we're hosting our IRC chat.

If you're using MIRC (or Trillian, or any other program that allows direct IRC access), though, the instructions are also in this thread.

IRC is ideal for those that can't make meetings, and I'll always be on here, if I'm home, so it's also an ideal way to get a hold of me.

If you want to chat through a browser, click through - I'd suggest reading up on the notes at http://starchat.net so you can register your username, so no one else can use it when you're online, and then head on over to
http://www.starchat.net/chat/?chan=Nanoglos - this page uses Java to render, but apparently works on most every browser known to man.

If you're using a chat system:
the server is called irc.starchat.net - and the command to get at the room is /join #Nanoglos I don't think it has a port requirement, but the full documentation is up at http://starchat.net, so feel free to mess around with it there.
And if you get stuck, let me know - I've been using IRC on and off for nearly 10 years no, so I've learned the commands you need to use and can provide whole strings of them to people that need support registering or messing with channels.

This channel will remain in place year round if required, so feel free to keep this as a long term bookmark!

Hope to see you there!

Kai

First regular Writer's meet planned for Friday 6th.
I will be in the channel almost all day - other than when I need to run errands, look after the kids, or my laptop plays possum.
AND
I will be running mini wordwars - winners will be entitled to claim mini goodies from me when we do the end of season party - these goodies range from retro stickers and badges, to advertising on my blog for your blog, to interview slots, hosting donations, to chocolates.... a £10 Amazon voucher (and matched £10 donation to the Nanowrimo in your name). Add to that, writer's books (spares of mine - we're going to freecycle them, so I might as well give you guys first shout :)), pens, pencils, cute stuff....there will be something for everyone, so come along and grab a chance to win a random prize at the prize giving event at the 'I can't believe it's all over' meet after December 1st.

Chat room details are above - gimmie a shout if you have a problem with it.

I'm just installing MIRC which I haven't used in... about forever I think!

I tried the java version but my computer is already worryingly temperamental about various things and it didn't like it so I'm going for the safer option.

Hope to catch a couple of people in there... :-D

I probably won't be on again until after fireworks tomorrow, as between several dozen small things, in the house that have suddenly broken down, and my daughter, who is being an absolute nightmare, I'm just not going to make it on, I don't think :(
I'll try when she's in bed, but sorry, as I said I was going to run mini sprints in the region and now can't.

No worries, Kai. I'm sure there will still be some of us in there, and I'm always up for a sprint if anybody else is on. :) Good luck getting all your stuff sorted out!

I will be in the virtual write in area all day, on and off, if anyone would like to join me. If I'm showing as in there but don't say 'hello' when you join, please feel free to say hi yourself - it'll flash at me and let me know you're there then ;)
