Hello everyonnee. My name is Kendra, I'm 13 years old, an aspiring author, and I live in Welland!
I heard about NaNoWriMo last year, but I only did it for fun and didn't enter anything. But I just found a page on Gaia today, and it reminded me. Thank god I found that page before November 1st. Still, this only gives me a little over a day to plan out my story to get ready for November, and tomorrow's Halloween!
I'm thinking about Writers' Block, and how I always get it at the most inconvienient times. And, nothing ever seems to shake that block away.
What do you guys do to break through writers' block?

Hi Kendra! It's awesome to see someone so young taking this writing challenge! The first thing I can think of to offer as advice for writer's block is something I just read on dailywritingtips.com (which was recommended to me by another NaNo in this region) - WRITE FAST!! I'll copy and paste the article here (if I can)
Write Super-Fast
by Michael
Writing fast and editing later is a good practice. For many people, writing super-fast is an even better practice. Here’s why:
* If you write fast, you don’t have time to criticize your writing. And the more energy you spend criticizing your writing, the less energy you will have for writing. Many amateur writers can work up a writer’s block for themselves with just a few sentences of self-criticism. Don’t get started on that road.
* When you write super-fast, your writing can approach the speed of your thought. I’m serious. Even non-geniuses can think much faster than they can type, once they get going. Let yourself fly. Don’t slow down your brain. Letting the words flow will actually spur new thoughts, and it will at least prevent you from losing thoughts because you couldn’t get them down fast enough.
* Until you finish writing, you shouldn’t edit. Everything that anybody writes is garbage until it’s edited. Editing is awfully inefficient when you try to edit every word as you type it.
For the first draft, try to write like the wind. Wait to edit until you start the second draft, after the sweat has dried.

I have a nasty habit of switching stories when I hit my writers wall.
----------But I work on a different project until a) enough time has passed, b) my sugar intake in an hour has exceeded that which is within safe ingestion zones for a human, or c) I actually get a new idea.
I know I'm not overly helpful, but I can say I do have a wide selection of writing projects *grin*

Hi! I'm Karlene and I lived in Niagara Falls up until last year but now I'm two and a half hours away in a tiny town which sucks. I keep in touch with my friends in Niagara still, which is a majour bonus. I am a highschool student and my friends are VERY important to me. I love to read, write, goof around on polyvore, and MSN, I am a major procrastonator. I'm a random person and yet quiet at the same time, I guess I'm kinda weird.
Anyway's nice to meet every one.
