I'm just wondering, being that nano begins in twelve hours. Is everyone going to start right at 12:01 or wait until tomorrow? Pull an all nighter to get off to a good word count? I'm probably going to start as close to 12;01 as i can. I'm having some friends over and may be going to a show at the Pennant that my friends band is playing. I might not make it back before the official start, but i plan on going as long as i can keep my eyes open or can keep clacking out words on the ol laptop. Which ever comes first.

How about you guys?

I'm going to start right at 12:01! I didn't get to last year, so this year I really want to. Although I have absolutely no idea what part of the book I'm going to be writing. I'll have to think on that.

It depends on when the World Series game ends and we get home since we are spending the evening at a friend's house for Halloween. I'm going to get some writing in as soon as I get home, whenever that will be, though I will probably only get done the opening of the novel.

I want to start at midnight but I'll be out and not back until 1:30 - 2am. But as soon as I get home I'm going to start typing. The first day and the last week are usually where I make my highest word count so I don't want to lose that pumped high.

I am planning on starting at midnight, but I'll probably only write for an hour or two. I have a wedding to attend tomorrow, and I'm afraid if I don't write early in the day I won't get the chance to write at all.

I could stay up and start writing at 12:01 pm, but then I wouldn't want to get up for the All Saints' Day service and would probably be half asleep through Evensong too. Since beginning the month with the choir director killing me is not the way I want to spend my NaNo, I'll probably wake up sometime between 5 and 6 am (which will be miraculously transformed into 4 and 5 am by Daylight Savings Time) and get in some writing before we begin a long day of two big church services followed by a bunch of the choir members going out to eat together after Evensong. I'm not sure how much I'll be able to get in during the break between the services, so I figure that starting out early in the morning is probably the best bet.

And I have to get to bed at a reasonable hour that night, too, just in case I get a call at 5 am the next morning asking me to come in and substitute for someone.

For me, this is a Harvest Festival and I'll be up late anyway. I hope to start shortly after midnight and write for an hour or so. I usually do my most productive writing when I wake up in the morning and I don't expect that to change this month.

I'm going to get a good night's sleep tonight so that when I wake up in the morning, I can get a good chunk of the novel done before I have to play piano at church.

When I get home, I'll write a bit more while watching the Eagles/Giants game (I'm a Steelers fan, but everyone else in the house is Eagles so... I kinda go with the flow)... and I'll go to the write-in at Rowan.

That'll probably be how my first day goes.

I was half-thinking about starting at 12:01, but I usually live-Tweet Phillies games and am not likely to be concentrating very hard. I am probably going to make some notes tomorrow morning instead, and then head over to the library when they open to work in relative peace.

The Phillies are rain-delayed, so I don't know if the game will be over by midnight - but I'm going to start writing then anyhow! I plan to write till 1 a.m. (I really am insane), post my word count and fall into bed, maybe get a few more paragraphs before church, then back to work for most of the afternoon and into the evening. I have got to get to bed at a reasonable hour tomorrow, though - 6 a.m. Monday is coming.

Ladybard, I'm with you - I don't want to be murdered by our choir director on All Saints' Day either!

I'm starting right now! (12:05) I decided to start with a scene that could be a prologue, since it's the best scene I have in mind right now. But I really should only hack it out for a half hour since I'm supposed to wake up early to go to New York tomorrow...

ONWARDS!

I'm starting now! I've been waiting for this moment ...well, it seems like forever. I think the hardest part is starting, but I have convinced myself that I can revise in December, so just write. Good luck to all! Oh and Happy Birthday to me! I was just born 49 years ago.!

Started around 10 after midnight and wrote for a good 20 minutes. Got to 652 words. My plan is to break up my writing into 3 small sessions through the day. 1 when I get home from work (late afternoon), 1 in the evening (~7-8pm) and 1 around midnight (I'm usually up to about 2-3 am so the lateness is not a problem for me). My goal is to hit 600 words per session which will make it 1800 each day. And of course, to keep on going during a session if I'm feeling it. The only exception would be if I make it to any of the write-ins, then I'd do all my writing then.

Anyway, the quota is met for tonight, but I'm about to head back in and try to get to 1000 to give me a bit of an early lead on my progress.

I started at 12, kicked my friend out to head home, and blasted through quota. Going to hit 3334 before heading back to school this afternoon, and want to be looking at 5K by the end of tonight's write in at Rowan. ROAR! For now, Godspeed, friends!

So it's been 4 hours of me writing my ass off. I have been brainstorming all week and so far, my novel is just the events that have happened to me personally over the past week or so.. and some moments and conversations I have had in my life within the past year so my word out is UP THERE. Watch, now I will fall asleep and get nothing done tomorrow.. AHH!!

Up 3,000! wooo!! That's the good part about making your novel based very closely to your own life.

Gooood luck guys <3

I like this idea of three small sessions. Though when I have a writing streak, it could go on forever! haha =]

In a word? Quickly.

Started shortly after 1200. Word count is accurate as of now (I'm slowing down - I've done less than 1K per hour!)

I've got three main PoV characters, so I'm writing one, taking a break (sleep, at least) then writing the next, then a break, then the next, then a break, and so on, in an attempt to keep the voices as different as possible for as long as possible.

Got the first section with the title character done, now off to sleep a bit before the kids wake up. Also, nearly 10 percent done. Day one. If I keep that up I'll be at 50K by the 10th...

Yeah...

I decided to get a good night's sleep instead of staying up until midnight. Im dividing today into a few chunks so after one session I almost made the minimum word count which Im sure I'll pass tonight and hopefully get off to a good start for the first few days to keep the momentum going.

I'm horribly sick too... I can't write through a headache and cough!! I keep looking at the screen and thinking, "Words go here, don't they? Where are they?" Ugh! Here's hoping you get some more words written and some tea or soup to ease that cold.

I tried to start at 12:01 but my brain was really fried. I ended up compiling a list of names which will be put to good use in further chapters. So far today I have a handful of paragraphs of background information (duly posted in my Author Page) and a few straggling sentences of Chapter One.

I'll be doing good to get my day's allotment by midnight tonight, never mind getting the head start I was hoping for. Encouraging words are welcome.

I started at midnight as is my tradition. I like the idea I started with but disliked the writing so much that I abandoned the first concept. I started on another idea today - er, Sunday (I see that it is after 12 here). I think I will keep going with this one, even though I have almost no idea of what the plot is, and I barely know who the characters are.

Then again, that's the whole idea of NaNo, isnt't it.

Good luck to everyone!

I had high hopes of starting as soon as I got up in the morning. Sadly, my 5 year old came down with the flu and I was just happy to get in my absolute minimum word count.

I'm 2,558 words in as of 10 a.m. Monday morning. Having shows and parties all weekend made for a rough start. Fortunately I had been rehearsing the first couple pages in my mind over and over while driving to work that I could brain-dump it first chance I had late last night.

By the end of tonight I want to be at 5,000 - especially if I can block out a write-in time!

Okay, you're the only name I recognize. Were any of the posted people at the kickoff? I have a tough time putting faces to names. Can someone send me something so I'll remember who I'm talking too. This is important for me, I'm visual and it would help to be able to spot faces I know in meetups.
