So. Are y'all ready?

I am. I've done all my washing and changed the sheets, won't have to worry about that for a fortnight. Tidied my room to the point of being able to hoover it. Frozen a massive block of cheese in lumps, two meals of chili, four of ratatouille, and a loaf of bread; if I live on cheese-on-toast two days in three (which I do) I'm set for 18 days. Stocked up on rum, tea, and horlicks. I've closed my door, threatened my flatmates with horrible fiery deaths if they come a'knockin after midnight. I've set up my spread sheet, modelled on last year, complete with calculations of daily count, buffer, percentage of total, amount needed for day and overall target, and all I need to enter is the total. I've set up playlists. Told all my friends that if I neglect them, I'm sorry, but some things are more important.

Basically, I've done everything I could possibly think of that I might procrastinate in writing by doing.

What have you guys done to prepare? Am I just unusually neurotic? (I mean, I know I am with the spreadsheet (shout if you want a copy!)...)

Now, all there is left to do is wait!

So, I've set up an aim room for us to entertain each other on; if anyone wants to join me, it's ednowrimo, or message me and I'll add you ^_^

I think you've got it perfect. XD

I'm at the complete other end of the spectrum though.... with the plan being as simple as... wake up around 2pm everyday, do the 2000 words I need to do and then sleep some more.

Food will work itself out. Heck yeah.

Today however... my preparations are.... find a plan? <.<; LOL!

My personal organization = not exactly brilliant. Woo!

I'm not even slightly prepared, just hoping inspiration strikes at some point between now and midnight - admittedly unlikely, given I'll spend the time watching X Factor...!

Macey-muse, I'm impressed with the spreadsheet! Can I nab a copy? (Although you do realise I will have to add colour coding to it somehow, though, because no obsessive spreadsheet is complete without colour coding!)

Wow...I'm strangely jealous of your organisational skills. I only signed up yesterday so I'm lacking in preparation. I barely even have an idea...

That spreadsheet sounds interesting. Any chance of a copy?

Oh, there is colour-coding, you just can't code for it, have to do it manually. Last year, I coloured the 'date' cell green if I'd made 1,667 that day, and the running total cell (incremented by 1,667 a day) went green if my total was inline with the goal total. They went red if, by the time I went to bed (not midnight, I wrote most of my novel between midnight and 4am), I hadn't reached the goal. Overall, I had five days I didn't make 1667 but only three days I fell behind overall.

...and I'd love to send you a copy, just pm me with your email?

Strangely over prepared this year, back story characters and yes I hung out all the washing this morning. (Home Carer)

I have to say I strangely calm about the whole thing. Maybe this is good, maybe not.

Hope you all enjoy the ride.

Well, Hi all.

Yup, 20 or so minutes to go...

Spotify will provide the music, God only knows who will provide the words.

Best of luck everyone...

Alan.

It's rolling!!

I came up with a plot at 12.04, a whole 9 minutes later than last year!!

So have spent the last hour and a bit researching and starting it. I'm up to the 400 word mark already....

And on the whole "how to keep track thing", I have post it notes above my bed saying how many words to go at the end of a day

Started at exactly midnight and did my 1667 word count before falling into bed, but I'm hoping to get a big head-start today, because tomorrow I'll be out of the house from 7:30 am to 10:30 pm...

Started at 8.30 am as I'm a morning person - will try and do more at Starbucks today as I have a lot of unrelated stuff happening for the rest of the week (oh yes, and work of course!).

:D I did a few before bed, and I've done some more today.

I've managed to get quite a bit of my challenge eaten into, but it'll take time.

Anyway, see you all at Starbucks!

Midnight started with a bang.

Did the sprint thing vaunted on the oldies forums then headed over two thousand words befor going to bed.

Updating the website now and then I'll get back to more writing before F1 takes over my sad life, then Sunday visiting.

Did 1200 words this morning before I got out of bed for breakfast. Writing before eating - that's dedication!

Glad it's not just me who will be downing tools for the Grand Prix. Knocked out a few hundred words last night when I got back from a Hallowe'en party but was too tired really. It's came easier this morning, but I really want to get a 1000 word buffer today - so see you later in Starbucks

I started last night, but I ended up writing half asleep so didn't get very far. Writing this morning and just about at the 1,000 words mark.

Sorry I didn't make it to the write in. Laptop + long walk in rain + lack of money + severe coldness from Geology fieldtrip this morning meant I couldn't make it.

:(

I'm past the 1667 for today though

Sorry I didn't make it to the write-in (it spares you all the sight of another Hawai'ian shirt, anyway). My Nano began with a torrent of mucus, mugs of Lemsip and falling asleep in the middle of the day. If I can get 1667 words by bedtime (without making my laptop looking like it's been regurgitated by a snail), I'll be happy. That's probably far more info than you need, but I'm past caring.

(Insert contrived 'soldiering on' smile here.)

Erm...ditto. Also, I have a heap of work due in tomorrow which unfortunately takes priority over Nano. Boo. Still, I'm up on my wordcount so I've got a bit of a buffer. Will aim to come to the next one.

lol weaklings, I made it out there with a fever/headache + barely any sleep. ok, so I regret it now, since I got barely anything done, now feel considerably worse and have given up on going to classes tomorrow, but still.

I couldn't make it today because of essay writing and rain, managed to do over 2000 words today which I'm pretty pleased with. The essay on the other hand is far from finished.
