So this is why everybody should come to the Thursday write-ins at Hearthstone Bakery at the Forum:

Thursday, November 5 *and* Thursday, November 12 will be not only the planned write-ins, but also fundraisers for OLL!

Hearthstone will send OLL a check for 10% of their proceeds from 5-8 PM on those evenings. So, the more of us show up (or the more people we drag along :) ), the more we can donate.

For those not familiar with Hearthstone: http://www.hearthstonebakerycafe.com/find_us.asp

How do we sign up for these? I'd love to come (I'd even be possibly giving up my one hour a week for myself. AKA SPN but it's worth it. ) I'm still a newbie to all of this. ^^; But I'd love to join you guys!

For the fundraiser/write-ins? RSVP on the forum (so we know how many to expect) & then show up. We're not going to turn anyone away. :) Welcome!

Unless absolutely necessary, make characters talk at cross-purposes. How many of us actually listen to other people? We don't. We're always thinking about what to say next, when they shut up.

It's simple, Skyler. You've seen what food processors do to food, right?

I'm going to try to make it, but traffic is a bear at that time of day from here. If anyone does a write-in or anything in Stone Oak area, count me in!

Okay. I'll be there for at least part of that, then! (I may be bringing my non-noveling husband along, too.)

I'll be there, bringing cookies. Out of curiosity, uh... what's OLL?

OLL is Office of Letters and Light, the name of the nonprofit "behind" NaNoWriMo. (It came after NaNoWriMo was started, IIRC.) The same nonprofit funds the Young Writers Program and Script Frenzy.

The world hates me. The world hates me and I can't make it to the write-in. I really wanted to be there today, but prospects are not looking good. Maybe next week.

Hi, I'd like to RSVP for the write-in tomorrow at Hearthstone. I really like the location - I live close enough to walk!

I'm going to try and make it tomorrow as well. It'll probably be after 6, depending on the family schedule.

Bill and I went this morning to check it out (my first time there) and I nearly got my entire daily word goal done in only a couple of hours.

So I was hoping to get at least 1000 written tonight... I got home, plugged in my Alphasmart, waited eight minutes (I am not making this up) for it to spew all the words into my OpenOffice window... and then did a wordcount.
2770 words in two hours! :D :D

Wahoo! See, stickers are good for something. :)

(I take it you don't use the wordcount shortcount on the Alphasmart? I use mine way too often.)

The Alphasmart Pro has no word-counting abilities. Otherwise I would have counted them before I left & claimed another sticker, since I would have passed 21671. :D

(Goal for tonight is 24000, since that'll bring me back to where my "personal minimum" is set. I... don't know how likely that is, but it'd be nice...)

Ah, I wondered about that. No word-counting abilities might be an advantage, actually, on balance... Oh, well, have a rain-check for your sticker tonight. :)

Re goal, hmm, I guess it depends how you definite "tonight"...though actually, if you keep up that pace, you should make it.

An hour and a quarter spent writing tonight; 2330 words. These write-ins are much better for me than the Sunday afternoon write-ins last year!

Yay!

I've noticed the same thing. Must be the food? ;) ~3000 for me tonight.
