Who's starting at midnight?

I think at midnight I'll be fast asleep, and hoping for some inspiration to come to me in a dream.

It's almost upon us now, folks; how does it feel to be on the verge of something so exciting?

Really nerve-wracking but itching to start now. Think starting is the worst thing. Once I've actually written something i'll feel a lot better!

I'm preparing. Got pumpkin pie and a whole tin of squirty cream. My crazy (pipe dream) goal? 10k by midnight November 1st. It begins in... three hours, twenty five minutes.

I'm crazy excited. And annoying everyone I know by prattling on about it.

Just wish my NaNo hoodie had come already. Then I'd be all set...

Started at midnight, 500 words now. Been waiting for this. :)

Over 600 words yay! Not sure if any of it's any good but oh well lol!

It's my first time, so I thought I'd get the ball rolling early! 158 words so far... I think I may be a bit too tired to write much coming to think of it :P

Well, it's been an hour and I've done 1, 193 words, so maybe 10k is a believable goal for day 1.

I should point out that I have yet to plan my novel... Hopefully something interesting will come out in the first few days, and then I can plan ahead! Or, this is just doomed to failure? :P

I'm sure you'll be fine. I was pretty sure I'd planned my novel out to the point I;d have enough material to guarantee not failing... now I'm not so sure at all :P

Me too! I'm starting to worry that i'm not going to get 50,000 words out of my idea after all :-(

Just got back from Halloween celebrations and already have some dull 258 words written. I'll probably finish the scene and go to bed. Hope I'll get a good 3000 words by midnight tomorrow.

I started just after midnight.

I kept wanting to use the evening to get going, but resisted the temptation!

I like the ritual.

So I wrote through until about 2 a.m. and then took the dog out for a walk around the neighbourhood - he'd been a bit twitchy earlier on, what with the fireworks, and all that...

Now it's 3.30 and I guess I should resist the temptation to do some more!

To start with I just have to write, can't think or plan - and best not to revise (as Chris Baty pointed out).

I just go for quantity to start with... :-) No idea where I am going with it...

woke at 3.30 so decided to make a start ...500 words done but dont really have a plan of what i am going to do yet!

have most people planned an outline, characters etc? am a little intimadated by my lack of preparation but gonna plod on and see where i get to( most likely lost!)

So how is everyone doing?
I'm seriously happy with my word count today, and I just love NaNo for starting on a Sunday as I had nothing else to do but sit and write! Awesome to get off to a good start!

Wow, congrats on the massive 10k wordcount! I managed to squeeze out just over 2,000 words after much procrastination and tidying of my desk. And I still don't have a proper outline of where the story's headed, there's some interesting stuff happening though...
