Hi all,

Argh! It' s 2pm on 1 November here and still the site says "NaNoWriMo has yet to begin".

*mutters at the international date line "it's all your fault"* :D

So, how's the writing going? Is everyone at the pancake parlour having fun?

So far I've got 4,058 somewhat-dodgy words

A bit above 2 000 now, but I am still trudging through this beginning introduction part. Hopefully I'll be around 5 000 when the US are just starting :P I love headstarts!

Thank god Tuesday's a public holiday. I need all the long days I can get, especially as I am losing next weekend entirly.

Sitting on 2386. However, I just got slammed by an idea for my plot, and it's practically negated all that typing I did at kick-off today. *head-desk* I love NaNo, I really do, but the oh! idea! wait, no, better idea! oh, an even better idea! thing? That I hate. *sighs* I think I'm throwing the towel in for today. Too much sugar to think straight...

Ditto. woke up this morning to the realisation that I cannot kill off my most horrible main character for at least another 15,000 words. So that's the last thousand words canned. Hopefully just in limbo.

My goal for the end of today was to have 5k... I've got just over 7k, so I'm fairly happy :) Still going, too.

Sorting by counts per entrant, the board says the average per person in Gainesville, Florida, is 13.3K.

I say we challenge India. They're pretty close to us, but a little above us. We could totally take them.

Pft. We could totally take on India.

I'm trying to get ahead so I can take a day or two to finish all my homework.

Dude, there are people who finish the 50k in 3 days. I guess if you write all day, doing nothing else, you could probably achieve those kinds of numbers.

50K in three days? Pff. that's nothing if you are taking the 'quantity over quality' route.

I hear the script for alien vs predator: requiem was done in three hours. And the script for cloverfield was done up in thirty minutes on the back of an unfolded Mc happy meal box.

Plot? Cloverfeild? As much as I love the movie, it's basically Gamera, The Bootleg sessions.

I just saw that somebody in Hot Springs, Arkansas finished in under 23 hours. 72000+ words.

So not in the running :)

Whoa! Did they get the 72,000 words in under 23 hours, or just the 50,000? Either way, that's pretty crazy.

72,000 words in 23 hours
= 3130 words/hour
= 52 words/minute

Now, if they went flat strap with absolutely no breaks for going to the toilet, eating, sleeping, or even thinking, 52wpm is still faster than the average person can type.

I know the majority of people here would type faster than that given their novelling and internet experience, but still, upholding 52wpm for 23 hours? Pretty impressive :P

Impressive or unbelievable. I rather go with the latter.

To be fair, I type at about 70 and my friend types at a little over 100. My friend would have half the time available free for sleeping etc :-)

I can type at about 90 when I really get going...but not constantly for a whole day xD

I am in awe of these people that reach over 50k in under 24 hours, let alone anything above that.
