Well y'all, in total donations we're ranked 11th, but if you take into account the number of people we have in our region, it averages out to $1.75 per person!
C'mon!!! If every one of us donated only $10 we could raise nearly $12,000 for the Young Writers Program!
Let's do it! Let's win the derby! Let's see HALOS!!!!!

I actually didn't see this thread until just now, but I donated a few days ago! It's my first year donating, but I figured it was time to do so as I participated for the last three years. :)

Hey Y'All,
Chris Baty and his team are giving up their respective careers to make a full time job out of giving us a fun November each year. I think it's high time we all ante'd up, so to speak.

Don't forget that you can get sponsored this year! Its on the front page somewhere - look for the link to http://www.gifttool.com. It will walk you through the whole thing and as long as you are in a region (which you probably are if you are reading this) any donations will be attributed to the region.
Of course I didn't find that until after I got my halo for my donation (your donation counts towards your fundraising goal as well) but I did put together a fundraising page, letter and link (which you can put on FB) and sent it out to a chunk of my address book. I will keep putting the link on FB throughout November and sending out reminders when I can. Just do yourself a favor and don't go to your page multiple times a day - it can get stressful.
If anyone needs some ideas beyond the generic (yes - it is sometimes harder to write a fundraising letter than a novel, believe me I have written many) let me know and I will do my best to help. Over the years I have helped raise more than $15K in personal donations for both breast cancer and leukemia/lupus so I have a little experience.
Just went and found the link. It is under the "Contributing when broke" page - http://www.nanowrimo.org/sponsorship.
Good luck!

Got a halo here today (2 November); know for sure I'm not likely to be sporting one in the Hereafter (after all, I lived through the 1970s!) but wanted to have one at least once! A small PayPal moment that seems worth the effort (especially since this NaNo stuff is a hoot!)

I donate every year... it's my grandparents's Christmas present! (They request we make donations or volunteer to a worthy cause since they really don't need anything).
Got my halo! :)

Somewhere in the FORUMS section of the site is a section for technical problems. In that section, I believe, there is a thread for things like missing halos, missing gifts, bad purchases, &c

WOOHOO! My parents just sponsored me for $25.00 - just about the cost of a hardback. Cool, hunh? Don't forget to do your sponsorship pages then pester the heck out of your friends and family. Only $75 more until I hit my goal. :-)
Hope everyone's writing is going well today!
