I actually stayed awake to start writing at midnight. Got my first scene set up and I'm off to bed. See some of you at the N. Miami write-in!

I was out and about for Halloween, so I didn't get back to start until 1am. It's flowing pretty well so far, though.

I started late today, cuz I was doing other stuff during the day, and I didn't want to get interrupted. What was my point? ....oh, right! I think I'm doing pretty good, almost 2000 words already (that's really good for me, I think, I get distracted easily....XD)
oh, my other point was this: I've been getting into the "just write the first thing that comes to my mind" thing, and i gotta admit I like it!
*shoot! My laptop's almost out of juice....... (good I noticed)

I know it's early, but I'm tired and my words aren't making sense anymore. But I made it to 3,018 words for the day. woo-hoo! Special thanks to lastsyllable who's high word count made me stop reading and start writing.

I've written almost 3,000 words today. I am so proud. The most I have ever written is 1,500 words and that took me like a month to write.

I am going to have to postpone tonight's writing - College Early Action deadlines, so I was writing essays all day...

We are all doing amazingly well so far, keep up the good work! And unfortunately, college applications do take precedence over fun writing time, so get that done and then get to writing. :-)

Yes...NaNoWriMo has started and I have taken off like a bullet!

...

...like a bullet stuck in the chamber, of course.

So, I thought I was going to be okay becuause three days shy of NaNo's beginning, I HAD AN IDEA! Yes! I had come up with a PLOT! (sortof) As close to having a plot as I ever get, anyway. And I knew what my characters wanted and what the initial conflict was going to be, so I thought...well! This is going to be CAKE.

Then...midnight, 11-01-09 came around.

And I got all of 159 words written before I stopped, realizing that I wasn't feeling it. So, I set that one aside and tried again. Same story, but a different approach, I thought.

I got 8 words. That's right. EIGHT.

So. I decided against that approach too.

Then, today at work, 1,169! "Woot!" I thought. This is it! This is the way to go!

And then I was driving home and thinking about what I'd written and I realized: nothing HAPPENS in what I wrote. WTH? I can't use THAT as a beginning!

But now, I am NOT dejected! No, siree! I read my welcome and pep emails! ("don't edit! don't self-edit! don't self-edit!") But I keep thinking that maybe this story idea isn't going to work out.

Now, I think I'm going to tweak it a little. Which means, I will have to edit those 1,169 pages to delete the reference to something in there and then write a prologue and I think I might be able to salvage this.

YES! I can do this!

Go, NANO!

Hello, fellow Miami-NaNoWriMos! I felt like sharing what my first few days experiences have been...(because it's so much better than actually trying to write?!? Hello, Procrastination...so nice to meet you!

Just make sure that you don't delete anything! If you have to move it to another part of the file or highlight it or put a strikethrough through all the words you hate, leave it there. You wrote it, so it counts for NaNo. Whatever you do, don't go back and edit! If you want to add more stuff that's okay, but you have to move forward. Onward and upward. Don't look back or you'll turn to a pillar of salt. While salt can be delicious, it is also bad for you in large quantities.

What was I saying again? Can you tell I've been sprinting and I'm coming down with logorrhea?

@lastsyllable:
First of all: I just LOVE the term "logorrhea"! Seriously. I think it's perfectly suited to describe the sensation.

Second of all: You saved part of my word count with this post. I don't ever delete unless I'm totally sure that I've already written another approach and that I really like that approach better, but I usually get it out of my file, put it in a seperate file or something, but you're right. I did write it and it does count. And want to hear something else? I put back what I had taken out and marked it in bold so that I'd know it wasn't something I wanted to keep in, but as I re-read it, at least part of what I was ready to delete, ended up becoming incorporated!

Yay you for the awesome advice!

Thanks!
