You wrote 1k in AN HOUR AND A HALF???? Good God, I've been writing (off and on) since midnight and I've got just over five hundred. I'm kind of hating you right now. (Of course, I'm the slowest writer on the face of the planet, and I've hit a snag ALREADY, so.) But STILL. That's impressive.

You coming to the kickoff at Pizza Hut tomor--er, today?

Yeah, I'm a writing machine. :) I'm a fairly fast typist and I've been thinking of the scenes for a long time, glad to finally get the words on the pages. Hope this muse can stay with me, I might actually hit the goal. Doing better than I thought I woudl. But that first inspired push can fade out once the weeks start to slide past. :) Good luck on your writing!

Hint, ignore the snag, just keep writing, and in fact, when I write something that is crap, I just do this.... (cut: .... the crappy words I don't like.) And then I still have the word count, and I can edit them later. Don't worry about snags, just write around them. Jump to the next scene that you know you want, this novel is a rough draft, so it's okay if you don't like it, or get stuck with how to get your heros out of their delimmas (sp), one scene they are in trouble, the next scene, they are fine. You can go back and figure out how to get them out of the shark tank after you've thought about it for a while. A good novel will be in your brain just like a good book. You'll be thinking of your characters as you drive, as you go to bed, while you are working, he heh, and then you'll know what you want to write about them.

I always do my composing in my head away from the computer, so when I sit down, all I have to do is type out the scenes that I've figured out. (just jot down the main points on a piece of paper if you think you might forget them.) That really helps me have those higher word counts. When I get stuck and I sit back and try to figure it out, usually the answer isn't nearly as good as if I go for a walk to figure out the problem. So, don't try to fix the problem at the computer. :) Sorry for all the rambling advice, but I hope something I said helps with your snag.

It'll come with time . . . the more you write, the faster you'll write. And as for snags - we can give you all sorts of tips for keeping going in spite of the snags. And at the kickoff party - I'll give out NaNo survival packs to the first 12 people who show up that'll have things to keep you going. :)

And Ericca - you rock! Can you believe that the website is actually up and running now?

Thanks for all the advice! I've sort of semi-unsnagged myself, so. :)
