I am so happy with myself! It's 10pm now and I have just hit my 10k word mark, after writing on and off for the last ten hours. It felt like a marathon but I am only getting into the meat of my storyline now. There's lots of scope for building up on this foundation over the next four weeks.

Hope everybody else is going well too, whether you have 500 words or 50,000. Keep up that average word count, Kiwis, and have fun! :-)

*gets out the party horns, streamers.. and... big ass bottle of tequila*

Wow! 10k.. that's a lot! *gives you a round of applause* :D

Well... I'm at just over 6k, and considering my target this morning was to make it to 3k, I'm stoked! But it's definitely bed time for me. :)

Good night, hun.

And good writing to everyone else. Kia kaha! We can win if we just keep at it every day. :3

Night folks!

Good on you guys!! You both deserve a great big pat on the back! I'm aiming for 6k today, but to be honest I was just completely stoked to get to 5,000 words. If I by some miracle get to 10,000 tomorrow that will be the first part of my novel done and dusted.

Exciting!

I'll be writing for a couple more hours yet, but to those who are off to bed - sweet dreams and well done XD

Great work, Isobel! And you, Christini (actually, your name is familiar... didn't you get some phenomenal word-count last year, as well?)

Well done! That's amazing. I was at the kick-off party this morning with another girl who had also done 10,000 words... I don't know how you people do it! I am aiming for 5,000 words by bedtime, and it looks like I'll do it, but good job on your achievement! Thanks for keeping us at the top of the scoreboard :)

I got up to 5k and am hoping to hit 10k before noon tomorrow. But I applaud all of you over 10k already.

Never feel silly! 3,000 words in one day is an awesome achievement in its own right, and well above what you 'need' to do to achieve :)

Add me to the "don't feel silly!" chorus. Anything above the minimum is a great achievement, and is more than most people will ever reach. I did not expect in my wildest dreams to reach 10k today, and this certainly won't be the norm for me. Still, it's great to know what we're capable of if we're given the opportunity. Everybody who's taking part in this esapade is doing awesome and we don't need to compare ourselves against others to know that :)

Hello :P

Honestly, neither do I XD
And I've done it.
I am so wiped out right now. I've beaten my plan by 1,000 words... but I'm not sure I can do another day of this in a row.

Everyone above 1667... GO YOU :P
Everyone else... YOU CAN DO IT!

Wow you guys are really motivating me to write more. I've only done 1200 so far. I'll have aim to do better tomorrow.

I'm in awe of everyone who managed to get so much done! My goal of 1000 words a day seems a mere pittance! (It's only 1000 because I have to study for exams as well. After the 9th I hope to be able to say I have done as much as some of you have already.)

I third/fourth/whatever others above me who have said don't feel embarrassed by different word counts! We're all here to compete with ourselves not so much with each other. Other people's scores and the word wars should only be a motivator not a de-motivator.

We are all at different experience levels and we all have different ways of writing. It's like the old cliche of comparing apples and oranges. Just do your best and compete with only yourself, I do believe that's the nature of this competition.

:3 So kia kaha!

Wow congrats on the 10,000 words!

I had written 10K on Sunday night/morning but when I did a quick scan of it yesterday, towards the end I wrote some serious crap. Rather than keep it I have deleted it I'm now on 7k but I don't care I'm very happy to write 7,000 words

I think it's awesome the amount of words people are writing and its cool to see who is where in their stories and what is what.

I'm sooo enjoying this!!

Noooooo don't delete it! Leave yourself little notes scattered throughout it saying "tighten this bit up" or "rewrite this" then carry on. Going back and fixing stuff is for December (and January, February, March...)

Noo! Don't delete [stuff]! What I've been doing is using the highlight function of Word. I'll go back in Dec and delete the [stuff]... right now the [stuff] is adding to your word targets! >.<
Ah, well, I guess everyone does things differently. :3

Yeah, don't delete! You're not supposed to worry about how good the stuff you've written is - just keep writing more. I know that my first thousand words are complete drivel, but I'm trying not to think about it. Curse you, inner editor; get back in your kennel!

And congrats on all the gigantic numbers I'm seeing! :D

I hit 10k around 10pm on the second night which is kind of ironic considering this thread. Anyways keep going Kiwi's keep getting those amazing word counts. Seeing so many people with 20k + is truly inspiring.

-cheers-
I was the same yesterday. =D
I'm going for 5k a day from now on. Maybe a little less on week days, maybe a little more on weekends.
I'm so psyched though.

I think this thread is awsome; I'm wussing out and just doing 1700 words a day so I think it's great to see so many people with huge word counts. Keep up the good work everybody.

I only did 2,006 words on day one; I only decided to sign up at four in the afternoon. (And I am SO not regretting it!) Otherwise, I could have done much more.

BRING ON NEXT WEEKEND! ^_^

Aw, thanks guys XD I took my laptop to school, and managed to get up to 7and a half k, so if I do some more tonight, I'll be way ahead of my 2000 a day goal XD Feeling pretty good about it- most exciting part is that I'm not even into the read part of the story yet so I have loads of places to take my characters :)
