I hope everyone's gotten off to or is getting off to a flying start today - don't worry if not, but try to get some words in - and if the urge takes you, don't stop at 1667 - it's a minimum recommendation, so don't let it stop you. It's good to pace yourself, but it's equally good to take every lead you can in the early days!

:)

Good luck, and if you need me for anything - random plot ideas (see the new thread), encouragement or talking you back up onto the ledge before taking your flying leap into a dozen pages in a fever dream, gimmie a shout.
And remember YOU are all incredible. Congratulations on taking the first steps to having a blast (and questioning every ounce of your sanity) this month.

Kai

Thanks for the encouragement Kai! Today is perfect weather for writing. The wind is howling, the rain is coming and going and the sun has even made a brief cameo for a few minutes. I had a good start this year and its a story I am looking forward to writing!

I did really badly yesterday (400ish words), but I have an excuse (already! that can't be a good sign!) I spent most of the day with family then had a 3 hour train journey home, during which I hoped to write but had to stand for most of it so couldn't :(

However I did come up with a lot of ideas which I'm now fleshing out.

Oh how frustrating - it's bad enough having to stand for ages on trains anyway, worse during NaNo!

I'm Sarah, I live up in Newent, nearish the borders with Worcs and Herefordshire, and close to the Forest of Dean (though I am not a Forester!)

It's going much better than expected this year, especially since all I knew till I started writing was my character's name! It has unexpectedly turned into a fantasy novel to some degree, which seems to make it easier to find stuff to write about more than the very ordinary story I wrote last year, so here's a tip - if you're struggling to make the count, give one of your characters strange powers, it seems to help *laughs*

Hope everyone's going well!
