Hit 1750 in less than two hours. If I won't let the inner editor perfectionist nut case inside my head take over this will be a novel. Why in the world have I waited this long to do this?

See ya'll at 50,000

*laughs* I started about half an hour ago and have a bit over 300 words? So, at least I'm moving, right? *chuckles*

300 words in half an hour is not a bad thing! Last night, I started at midnight and managed 1881 words in about 3 hours, which averages out to 627 words per hour, so you're going at the same speed that I am - and I've won five years in a row, so it works!

I'm really happy, though, with how the writing is going so far. A good start always bodes well for me!

After another 45 minutes or so, I have 550, and that included a break for breakfast, so I'm feeling a bit optimistic, for now, at least. Yay!

Everyone seems to be doing great so far :)

Dixie Dawg, after a while you can get past your inner editor and tune him/her out. I wish I could take some duct tape to my inner editor sometimes, LOL

And 300 words in half an hour is great Veet Voojagig! The main thing is to keep it up and don't stop :) We'll all make it to 50,000 and get our shiny purple bars :)

Happy writing everyone!

I'm doing miserably... but in all fairness, it's because I spent four hours in the ER last night. ;) Not quite how I wanted to spend my halloween. I've got 721 words at the moment, and need 3334 before bed tonight.

I can do it. ;)

I have 1,347 words after an hour and 45 minutes of writing... And that's only after I used a firefox addon to block every single website for that long.

...I am so easily distracted. xD;

I started at midnight and went to bed at 2 with about 1,000 words. Now (9:10 pm), I have 2,392 words. Quite a productive day despite working on grad school projects and playing with and reading to my 2 year old. But I will not be fooled, I know my revision urges will kick in strong and that the characters of other works-in-progress will NOT appreciate the total neglect and will demans that I give some attention to their stories immediately!!! LOL

Everyone is doing great! I am so glad I went through with this and that I joing a regional group. 50,000 words......Here we come!!!!!!

Mmm. I'm at 1241 now, and I'm getting tired and losing steam. Drinking some hot tea and hoping that helps.

Yeah, we are having fun. 2353 now and I'm hanging it up for the night. This is so wild. I have no outline only a life time of experience and names that fly up out of no where and stories that collect themselves around those names. This is like a treasure hunt. See ya on the morrow.

I've been trucking pretty good ... but I always do better on the weekends. My first part was awful ... it's going to be all about a rewrite when its said and done ... but I've got the structure and the plot down, just not the execution. So I'm being good and ignoring it. And I'm happy with the plot so far.

I do have an outline ... but I'm going to have to fill it up some more ... I'm trucking a little too fast, which is alittle weird for me. Normally, I plan six chapters and end up with 20. Now I don't have enough? :p

It's the character profiles I've never done before. And those have helped me more than anything to establish the twists and turns in my plot. Such as they may be.

I've reached my goal for the night, with a few hundred more for padding. I'll probably see if I can pound out some more before bed, since I don't have much else going on at the moment. 3737. Just about a total of 60 minutes worth, though that was scattered through out the day. And my wrists are in good shape... I think I can keep this pace up.

I stared at the computer screen for about 15 minutes, then wrote and deleted an opening paragraph three times, and then was able to write a beginning and take off. I started staring at the screen at 9:15, and finished 1722 words at 11:00, so I was happy (and very, very tired). Maybe it will be easier tonight?

I realized today that I have never written more than 25 consecutive pages before, so my goal is to get through this first week and hit the 11,000+ word count mark....

Good luck on day 2, everyone!

Wow did I blast off this morning. uh huh. I've advanced the cause by only 75 words. LOL 75 measly words.
I did get a piece edited and submitted to the paper. BUT THAT DOESN"T COUNT! The next hour and a half will be story telling time. You know what or high water.

Well, got started yesterday with the first line of the novel (62-63 words, depending on the counter), and then had EVERY intention of coming home last night and knocking out the remaining 1604 words, but kinda got sidetracked (which is par for the course for me); As a result, got up this morning at 5 and crossed the 1k barrier before going to work. Am hoping to be back on track tonight after I get the writing software (thanks Heather, for putting the website in your sig) and maybe even be around 4100 before going to bed tonight.

Just a quick question, has anyone switched their genre after a couple of years and found it hard to start the new one. Reason I ask is because the past two years, I have been writing sci-fi/fantasy, and decided to switch to a mystery this year.

Gotter did. 3418. With time left to do my evening duties and maybe knock out a few more before I fold my cards for the day.

Valqis. This is my first go round at this. Maybe someone else can help with your question.

I'm doing pretty well on word count and liking my story, so far. It hasn't felt too much like work. But I realized at the end of my session tonight that I've rearranged my outline. Par for the course.

Glad to see most of us are doing alright so far.

My word count when I finished typing tonight = 4,021. For me, this is miraculous.
I cannot begin to count the ways in which this story needs to be edited, but for now I am happy to see pages flying from the printer, all filled with words that I actually wrote. :)

I wrote the most I have ever written in the last 3 years. All in an hour and 17 minutes. I think that's a success. However, the wrists are not fairing well. The desk was not set up for typing--or perhaps it is the chair? Either way, wrists hurts--met quota, going to bed since I have to work.

Talk to you guys later.

Keep up the great work!

Robin,

Mine is a character driven world. I'm wondering, if you like your characters they may weave you a plot from your plot if you pay attention to them.

I'm currently letting my story be taken over by two women. One named Mable, the other Marla Jean Caruthers. Had no idea they were going to show up and even less of a clue about what they were going to do. BUT I have a glimps of how all these folks, there is also a person named Plunk, yeah I know, but that's his name, Plunk, are going to weave themselves together around Mable's place called Mable's and a guy who won the lottery.

I almost hesitate to post - our poor forums moderators are trying to write novels too, but they're doing it while babysitting all of us. I feel guilty making more work for them :(
But I wanted to contribute.

I had a great start, as my friends on Facebook were incessantly reminded of - but then I stopped updating my status and started writing... I had a depressingly average showing on day 2, and am gearing up for another big burst here in day three.
The words are flowing, which is nice, but they are primarily crap - which is unsettling, because my previous two NaNovels were at least salvageable from the get-go. This one is going to require major reconstruction and cosmetic surgery, and it's actually painful for me to leave the dreck as it is and keep moving forward.
This is the first year I am actually leaving notes to myself in the text! For example: Zoe remembered the huge spider she thought she had seen earlier, and nodded her agreement with a shudder. (dear moron: how about you go back and write that scene with the spider, m'kay?)
*sigh*
The inner editor is strong in this one - break her we must.

This is the first year where I have no clue what's going on at all. I don't know what the plot is other than the "reality" is being exposed in the story but only to those who can actually see it. I have a main character by the name of Bianca Redmoon who is homeless because of her ability to see "reality " as it really is due to some kind of incident. She just met a guy named Julian who I believe might have seen something that he wouldn't have otherwise--this "reality" that I keep mentioning. There are demons and sprites and brownies and everything that every culture always warned you about. But no clue why this is coming out. I haven't really wrote much in the last 3 years.

Totally had EVERY intention of writing last nite when I got home, but after driving around for almost an hour trying to find Joshua Cup (in the dark, trying desperately to find Washington Ave {which there is not a sign for until you are on it}) I bought a cup of coffee for both me and my wife, and then went home and downloaded Liquid Story Builder and also bought a new laptop to help with portability of the product, and then went to bed!

Was up this morning and made a little headway on the book but am falling farther and farther behind on word count as it looks like I will have to play IT Guy to my family tonight instead of writing!!!!

Am totally hoping to get things back inline this weekend (gods willing) if not sooner, but is it usual to get burned out after 2 days??

Sometimes. I've found when that happens, it's a sign that I'm not writing the right story, or the right character. A sudden change of events can often help... throw something unexpected at them, screw your plan, and see what happens. ;)

Mine is flowing pretty well; I'm about 1k short of where I want to be, but I plan on fixing that in a little bit. I threw a random sex scene in there; not quite what I had in mind, but it's actually a plot advancer. Not sure HOW, but we'll see.
