Hi there.

You don't really need to post or update the novel here, at least not until later in the month.

You can start writing the novel in a Word Processor software of your choice. This is competition against yourself, so you need to figure out the count of words you have written, and update it using the box on the top-right of this website.

Check the FAQs from the menu on the top, if you need more help.

Congratulations on getting the novel started. Are you updating in the little box in the upper right hand corner that says total word count? Up until the final week it's all honor system, so you put in your own word count (usually if you're using Word or OpenOffice or something similiar it's under Tools and then it will pop up a box that tells you what the word count is. From there you can put it into the box on the nanowrimo website.

Do remember to save and save often, and backup when you can. So if you're using your home machine, make sure it's on both your hard drive and a flash drive. There are always tales of woe from many a NaNo who loses their novel half way through.

Hope this helps and happy novelling!!!

Just passed 3000. Couldn't write yesterday though due to many reasons. But today I'll burn the lamp till I get atleast 5000.
By the way, I'm only in 10th grade which should make me younger than everyone here.:)

haha, i'm a bangalorean (: & yess, i have. i believe in the policy of getting a MASSIVE headstart in week 1 (i've been taking part since '07 & it always helps) b/c i have exams & stuff soon & i love headstarts because when you burn out/get tired in weeks 3-4, you're still not completely lost (:

but as long as you stay above the blue line in your NaNo Stats page, you should be on track (: if you're having trouble, try Write or Die, that always helps (:

what's your novel about?

So you've been doing this since you were in 8th grade? This is my first year. I read about it in young world and signed up immediately at the end of September. My novel's a mixture of tragedy and destiny fulfilled in the end. Just am forming it so not really concrete about it.

This is my first year, too and it's good to know that there are others doing the "stunt" of writing 50k words of fiction inspite of having board exams.

I don't have boards exams (I passed 12th grade in 2009) but I am preparing for JEE this year and everyone thinks I have gone crazy because I am writing fiction when I should be studying.

That's an even bigger achievement. All the best for ur novel as well as the JEE. When are the exams coming for you then?

@VC3_AKA

Thanks!

Main exams are due in April 2010. And best of luck for your boards as well.

I was also in CBSE, and I know how hard your teachers must be making you work even without the NaNovel you are writing.

Woo! I am not the only kiddie here :) All those who're younger than me and into their board year, CONGRATULATIONS for this step! All the best guys, I really really hope you all make it :)

And yea, I am done with my XII CBSE boards and into first year of my college :) But the load here restricts my time for NaNoWriMo. Sad case for an engineering student, me! =(

Keep up the great job, guys!
