Is anyone going to San Francisco? It sounds like a fun event. But what about having one here? What do you think? I would be happy to help coordinate.

I know this one was posted a couple of years ago but I think it would be fun when we are getting close to crunch time to do the all night write! I wish I could go to SF (I visited there last year and it is one of my favorite cities on the planet) but unfortunately I am stuck in Dayton. So if this is of interest to anyone, I would love to help coordinate it.

I am definitely interested in this, and would also be willing to help organize the Dayton All-Nighter.

I think this is a terrific idea. I'd definitely try to come if one was planned.

Yeah, I'd go. I don't sleep most nights anyway (huge insomnia problem...), and an all night write in would be fun.

I am usually a 'stay up all night sleep in all day' kind of gal...so I will definitely keep a look out for the info on the all night-Dayton Write. I would love to come and maybe bring the coffee. ^^

My amazing supportive husband reserved a hotel room for me and three of my writing buddies, so we could have an all night write-a-thon. I am psyched for the challenge but I'm hoping I don't slack off knowing I have a big time slot to fill.
Where would you plan an overnight write? Hotel? Public space? (I see Nanoers taking over the emergency room or something.) Someone's house?

That's a good point, it might be hard to find somewhere public to do it. Maybe somewhere like Meijer's that's open 24 hours and has a cafe area with tables? Or are there any coffee shops--Panera, Starbuck's, Tim Horton's, etc--that are open 24 hours? Or restaurants? In college, we used to get a private room at Denny's and sit up all night hanging out.

I know several people mentioned they'd be willing to help organize this if there was interest. Are we still hoping to do it? I think it's a great idea.

I'd be into it... Denny's is a good idea... There's also that truck stop south of town that I know is open all night...I used to go and write there sometimes. It's kind of far away, but I know they put up with people hanging out there for long periods of time.

Isn't Bill's Donuts in Centerville open all night? There's lots of parking and the donuts are good anytime. Denny's is cool but that was a huge hangout in high school and college on Friday and Saturday nights. It can get pretty rowdy. Jim's Donut Shop in Vandalia is open 24/7 too, but I've never been there. I don't know how the neighborhood is. Meijer may not be such a bad idea. I used to work there 3rd shift in college and we had a few people that would come in during the night and hang out in the cafe. The floor cleaners are a bit noisy and the grocery staff takes their lunch at 2:30am so it's a little loud then. You should probably get permission from management though, since it isn't like we can just keep buying coffee. I don't know if any of these places have wifi, though.

I think the Starbucks across from Dayton Mall is open 24 hrs.

I used to live in the neighborhood where Jim's is in Vandalia, and it's decent, even in the middle of the night. Providing you don't go into the Hot Air Balloon Lounge, where drunken, opportunistic men go prowling. I agree, though, Meijer's might be a good option. They pretty much have everything there... we would be set for food and also we'd be in luck if we needed to pick up writing supplies on the fly... and it's huge, so we wouldn't have to worry about having enough space for everyone.
