It's so exciting to see word counts start to appear on everybody's progress bars! Yay! I just updated mine, and though modest in number, it makes me happy nonetheless. It seems it gets easier as the word counts get larger and we all get used to writing every day for extended lengths of time again.
And...you will be amused to note (Cheri especially) that I did actually bust out my little laptop at 12:30 while drinking at the Firehouse after I got off work. I got more then a few strange looks and questions, but it was worth it!
Just wanted to share my excitement at getting things underway!

Haha, Nicole! Love it. It's hard to resist the temptation to get started!! I only managed 79 words before I went to bed...hella migraine hit at just the wrong time. But, I made up for it today, so far. =)
The best part of my book so far is that I love my 12-yo character. She has just the right amount of snark and the right amount of sensitivity to make her lovable, yet prickly. She's got the 'tude of a pre-adolescent, but some humility too. And she swears like a sailor. I knew she'd be snarky, but I didn't expect her to have such a potty-mouth. Ah well...in typical 12-yo fashion she tells the readers, "Yeah, I cuss. Most kids my age do. Get over it."
And HOMG! Peoria Wrimos - we ROCK! Look at our word counts already!!! Did you look at all the word count goodness!? WOW!
>does a happy little Snoopy dance<
Keep going!!! Happy writing.

Yeah! Everyone's word count is looking quite excellent! Unfortunately I had to work most of the day today, and I was napping in the morning because I stayed up all night. So my count looks pretty pathetic next to everyone else's, but at least it is still over the minimum per day total right!!
Let's hope I make up for it at the write ins!! I'm going to have to call it a night now because I desperately need sleep!
Yay for the beginning of Nano 2009!!!!!!!

Your word count doesn't look so pathetic compared to mine, Nicole! That was all the first night (morning?). The weather is too nice to not get out and get things done around the house that have been put off from the rain. Although it IS nice, and encouraging, to see that bar start to fill!
Hopefully I can make up for it later at night after chillen are in bed.
And "Atta boy, Illinois!" We won a word war? Awesome!

Long mornings spent writing = long nap in the afternoon. Ha. I'll only be able to do this on the days I'm not cleaning a house! Who knew it would be so exhausting writing? Also I need to try and get some research in today or tonight.
----------I think you're all doing great. Keep it up, and you'll make me keep on writing as well.

Slowly but surely I'm beefing it up! I would like to stay ahead of the game if I can, but I have this issue with obsessively checking the word count every two minutes, and then getting frustrated when it isn't what I want it to be! Not ironically, when I don't check it the writing goes much smoother.
I just hope that I can keep it up!
Keep on trucking guys!
