I made 2433 words today, Day 1. Which is great for me because then I have a bit of wiggle room when life hits me. I've got three busy kids and a full-time job as well as a weekly podcast. I do most of my writing at night. Give a shout on your word count for the day and keep up the good work! I need to get back to reality for a while.

2600 here - I need wiggle room too, but only because I get lazy.

I'm having a crazy productive day 1.
Granted, I have nothing much that needs to be done today but write. There's just me and the roommate, both doing NaNo.
My brain is starting to kind of feel the strain of all the words, so I might take a bit of a break, but I'm currently at 4481. I sort of want to hit 5,000 before midnight rolls around, though.

There's going to be days when I'm not going to be able to get as much done. I'm not working now, but I'm hoping that changes, and with it goes away some of my writing time. Then there's the social activities that I'm not willing to give up during the month of November, just because it's not good for me to be shut-in for the entire day.

4467, me. I NEED wiggle room because I'm a full-time student while also working full time. I was going to stop here at 4467, but then Lunae mentioned hitting 5000. Now I want to do that, too. So I'm going to take a bit of a break, come back and knock out those last 533 words.
Let's push each other on this, Lunae! 5000 by midnight! Grrr! Get mad at those words!

Flying. Now if only I could find a way to ignore the TV.
I used to sit with my back to it, when I used the desk top. The lap top lets me sit in my recliner. The TV is very visible over the top of the laptop screen. I've been resisting, facing away from the set, but unless I have headphones on, I find the attention wandering.
But it's going really well, so thanks Scrivener, the software really helps, and starting out with two weekend days is a BIG plus.

I'm doing a lot better than I thought I would, that's for sure. Got a little over 1400, which is my best ever on the first day.
----------Life is hectic, so I'm hoping I can keep this up. With three kids (4, 2, and 3 mths) a handful of pets and a house to keep in one peice I hope I make it!!

Looks like you made it. So did I, but you've got me beat on this.
After I hit 5k, I decided to just let it lie for the night. Rest on it, and pick up where they left me tomorrow.
This is a lovely, nice buffer to have. :D

Hit 4449, currently in a state of writing euphoria as I've been waiting to write this story for a very long time :). I thought about going for 5000 but I had pit rehearsal eating up my entire evening. Plus my classes during the day, when I write best, are pretty far spaced so I have lots of write time despite it being evening rehearsal "hell week". I even have an entire day that ends at 11 AM. So I might end up not needing the heavy cushion I gave myself today :).
...of course I'm not nearly as stressed as I will be by the end of the week, haha.

Working most of the day made it hard to put in that big dent I was day dreaming for doing on Day 1. I did use that extra hour from daylight savings time though and managed to log in at 2376 words. All I can say is that I love my netbook I wouldn't have a quarter of that count if it wasn't so handy.

made 3963 words yesterday. I want to get 2000 more tonight after work, after the kid goes to sleep. I have the residual sleepiness from the flu but I am pumped!! Anybody else write any seriously sucky prose yesterday? Wow, it was bad, but you know what? Some stuff happened that I didn't expect in the story and it is moving forward! Go Elsewhere Iowa!!

Wicked good so far. But I know I have a bunch of non-writing days in the month, so I have to get while the getting's good.
Sitting just shy of 7000 words at 11am on Day 2. I hope to be close to 10,000 before I go to bed.
Keep it up, all! Looks like most people are hitting it hard. Probably due to the Sunday start.
Cheers,
Paul

I got to 3363 for day one since my writing site (Stringing Words) decided to have a November 1st, double-up challenge. School and having what we think is H1N1 is making my writing for the day slower. I've got speech tryouts tonight and then I'm going home and sleeping until I can't sleep anymore.

I'm a bit sick today, and most of yesterday was spent out because the grandparents were in town.
I don't think I'd have more than this either way, though. 3000 is apparently when I start slowing down.
----------Keep up the awesome work, everyone!

first day i had to quit at 4041 words.
right now end of day two i'm at 6073.
best start so far (third year). I have four days of the week where I probably won't get much done because of other stuff going on. so I tried to give myself a little wiggle room, if i have a day where i can really only find time to write - like - 600 words or so. as long as i am writing something, i guess.
anyway. it sounds like we're all doing really great. I know there are some writers who are not scoring these huge numbers and may feel a bit discouraged. My advice is to you is this:
1. just keep plugging away
2. it doesn't have to be high-quality, ready to publish at the end of the month. In fact, my internal editor is furious at me because some of what i've written doesn't exactly make sense. the editor wants you to produce quality work, if you attempt to satisfy her/him you will remain frustrated and discouraged. Shove a rag in his/her mouth and stuff 'em in the closet with a sign around the door handle "do not open until Dec. 1."
3. have fun relax. take a break on occasion. go for 300 words and then go wash some dishes IF you really NEED the break. Or write like crazy for forty minutes and then go give your sweetie a kiss (or find some fruit if you don't have a readily accessible sweetie).
4. Don't stop if you are really cooking! unless you really have to go to bed for an early morning or something... I try to end on a "WHAT HAPPENS NEXT????" or a "I absolutely confident of what is about to happen" kind of note - it gets you set up for the next session.
Hey good luck to us all.

You're all putting me to shame!
Fantastic advice -- although sometimes I swear giving my sweetie a kiss and finding some fruit are pretty much the same thing anyway...
I'm hoping that my flight next weekend will give me the boost I need - I tend to do my best writing when I'm flying and away from the evil internet. I just hope my flight isn't one of the new ones with in-air internet or I'm screwed!!!

You guys are completely and totally insane. And beautiful.
I didn't write a single word day 1, and day 2 was about a thousand . . . I'm up to yesterday's count by now, but we'll see how much good that does me.
It's all okay, though, because I only have half a shift to work over my 3-day weekend. I'll catch up.
Yeah, Bambier, I haven't got internet at my house or at work -- I sneak out to my car to shiver and type on all my breaks -- and it's really a beautiful advantage. I didn't expect that.
It's crap if I don't want to be isolated, though.
