Also Meeting #1 for those of you who could not make it this Saturday.

Brought up at the Saturday meeting, but I can't remember what was suggested for time/location. Discuss.

Dang. I'll be leaving on vacation that day. Well hopefully I'll be able to make it to one after that.

I think it was *generally* agreed that the UVic SUB, if available, offered all that we needed without the pressure to buy coffee. I have no aversion to switching it up every now and then, but perhaps a not-too-committal location such as UVic would be good for a first go. I have no idea of the logistics involved in getting a room or anything, but whateves. I have a few power bars for laptops that I can bring to coffee shops or where ever. A post-dinner meeting would also prevent the urge to splurge on $5 croissants, too. How late can we stay at the SUB, given that we could get a room?

No clue for time. The one serious coffee in james bay did offer up themselves (mon-thurs, evening) but we'd have to check and see if that's still viable.

Serious Coffee in James bay is in theory totally viable. We're open till 8, and I can't guarantee that it'll be dead, but it's SUPPOSED to be dead.
If anyone is in that area, I'm sure my boss would love to see people come in on a wednesday though....the past few weeks wednesday nights have been really pathetic.

there are plugs and wifi, and as long some of the group buy coffee or what not, no one cares how long you stay for in the evening.

As for meeting at uvic, I work till 4:30, but as long as it's 5:30 or later I should be able to make it.

Hey all,

I've been on holidays so I'm just getting back to the forums. I have questions. They want answers.

What time is the write in on Tuesday?
Is it up at UVic?
Is there any intention of having non-UVic meetings for those of us that have closed that chapter of our lives?

That is all.

Kris

Wednesday meeting at the James Bay coffee shop works best for me.

UVic is not closed to non-UVic students.

It would only be an issue if that chapter is closed because of dark pasts that cannot be revistted without inducing trauma or otherwise awakening some murderous beast from within.

I was actually much to shy to attend any meetings last year so I hope I can have the courage to go to one this year.

Evenings don't work too well for me at all. We have one car, my wife works evenings, and it's getting cold. Since those all rule out my use of an automobile and I don't like buses AT ALL, I simply can't do anything other than weekends unless it's nearby my apartment.

I can check in with Camas bookstore on Quadra street, they would more than likely take us after hours. And since they are SUPPOSSED to be getting me a key so I can start my volunteer shifts there, we wouldn't even have to have one of the other volunteers there during the meeting. It could be just us and the mouse...

I am most vexed by my working schedule, and hope to be able to make it to a write in this month. Tomorrow is very unlikely that I'd be able to make it should one be organized.

So what's the final verdict then? Is it at UVIC then? And if so, what's the exact date and time? We're getting a lot of mixed responses and honestly I'm a little confused.

Okay, I've been slacking off a bit forum-wise (been trying to catch up on word count...I'm already behind >_<).

So, for those that want to, I am going to be on campus on Tuesday November 3rd (tomorrow) in the Clearihue building main lobby area (by all the pop machines) at 5:00 for those that want to show up. Then we'll go off in search of a room (since they're relatively easy to steal and no one will worry about us - i.e. Campus Security). I will then make a post about the specific room.

Clearihue's the best building for this, and it's right across the road from the SUB. There's parking nearby, and after 6:00 it's only $2.00.

The SUB won't work on Tuesday evenings because of room booking restrictions. I can get us space on Saturday because I'm working then, but we'd have to be a UVSS club in order to get rooms when I'm not working.

I figure I'll stay on campus until about 9:00 for people who want to show up a bit later.

I was also contemplating doing the same thing on Thursday evenings in case that interested people. And then on Saturdays at the SUB.

My cell phone number is (250) 858-7408 for those who come looking for us tomorrow and can't find us.

All people are welcome, whether students, alumni, or none of the above. I'll bring a power bar, and folks can feel free to bring a coffee machine (I just don't have one, cause I don't drink coffee :P).

How does this sound to everyone?

If anyone organizes a non-UVic meeting, let me know. I am not too keen on sitting on a bus for half an hour to get up there. I'm too old for that!

But, seriously - Camas would be a fantastic location, so let us know if that works itself out.

Cheerio - and have fun tomorrow for those that go :)

I'll be out probably around 5:30-6, I have to make a pit-stop at the dentist after work, I think. I will be bringing my lappy because...it's NaNo....and it travels with me everywhere.

Clearihue at 5 works for me. I have to be downtown by 7, but will be in for an hour and a bit of writing.

Sounds like it's all worked out, then.

I won't be attending myself, because I'm apparently the only person on earth who still has a desktop PC.

I intend to attend sans laptop (for I too am desktop immobile) but will write by hand and, if naught else, can spend the time usefully forcing myself to map out plot elements and scenes.

It is much easier to work when other people around you have their heads down and are working too.

I shall be able to come, naturally I will not have a laptop because I am also one of the few with a desktop only. I will however, be writing by hand as I had done in school when my writing was in it's infancy~

Well I emailed the girl in charge up at Camas, and I'm waiting for a response from her. Is there a specific day and time that works best for those of us that would be interested in meetings there? Remember, people that go to the UVic meetings are still welcome at the Camas ones if they work out (As long as they don't happen at the same time, of course.)
