Hi, all,
Question about word counts for anyone who's done this before - I'm pretty new at the whole writing thing, but in the past I've used the SFWA formula for calculating a word count (rather than using the standard word count function in Word). Does anyone happen to know which one of these methods is closer to the way the nanowrimo counter works?
Thanks!
Danielle

I'm not sure myself, but you can plug in what you've written so far (I believe) in the Novel Info section to get NaNo's word count. Then you can compare. I was unaware there were different ways of counting words but the idea is concerning! Don't you just count every word?

The word count via the NaNo counter is slightly different than the MSWord counter. If you err on the side of 50 or 60 words over you'll be fine. Or, at the end, if you need extra words remember you can always have your characters sing songs, quote passages from the bible or read out loud from the dictionary or encyclopedia. All are great ways to bulk up the word count.

Or discover esoteric bibliographies, which is my plan for padding my word count and getting something useful written at the same time...
