In order to keep spirits high, I feel it is important to organize a write-in so locals can gain some community support (and maybe make some friends?).

I would like to meet at the Starbuck's/Barnes & Noble in Medford or possibly Pita Pit? We can all help decide a date and time.

Consistency on the forums is dwindling, the last post was by me over 20 hours ago. And I have to be honest with you guys, I need a little more support than that. Luckily I found a group on Live Journal that is extremely active but I really would like to meet some people in the real world who are doing this.

I want to be successful, I don't want to be counting my good graces for hitting 35,000 on the 30th.

Who's with me?

Believe me when I say I really, really WANT to be there, but I have a really hectic life & really strict parents...So I can't really come, but I want to really bad. I even pulled the extra chores trick and that didn't work ...DX

Sorry,
~Jay

Sounds like it could be fun. :)

Like Jay, I dunno if I'd be able to cos of age/parent stuff, but seeing as my mom is maybe doing NaNo (she seems to have gotten more flaky as it grew closer XD) I might be able to.

So yeah. I'll try to see if I can (if I remember ;).

Let me know the date and time and I'll be there. I could use some support and would like to make some new friends.

Hi - I'm 29 and traveling all up and down the Pacific coast for my Nano - if you're having a meeting on Sunday the 8th in the afternoon, I'm totally there!

I'd love to meet either place! I'm 25. Weekends are great, or Tuesdays through Fridays after 2:00 work for me, as I'd have to get a ride. Evenings would be fine, too. Good luck with your novel!

Oooo, fantastic!!!

Can everyone make it Sunday the 8th between 12-2pm? It can go on longer if people decide they want to stay.

What place do you think would be most accommodating? I believe Starbucks would probably have the best (and comfiest) seating arrangements.

I'm glad to see so many people interested!!

Please leave a note confirming you are coming on Sunday the 8th at the Starbucks/Barnes & Noble on Biddle between 12-2pm.

Sunday the 8th - between 12:00 and 2:00.. Starbucks/Barnes and Noble. Medford. I'm going to try to be there. I'm going to try and be there on the right day at the right time. How do you find each other? Wear a pink gardenia in your left ear? Or should one just look for a bunch of people with lap tops and slightly crazed looks in their eyes?

I am laptopless - which is probably preferable to topless at this point in my career. Has anyone ever done this with a good old fashioned paper notebook & and pen (ink)?

Is there anyone from Ashland who could come if they had a ride? If I had someone to pick up, I would probably be less likely to chicken out at the last moment.

I have had the requisite migraine - spent yesterday visiting the nice folks in the Emergency Room at ACH rather than whipping off 10,000 words.. I hope that does it - for a while at least..

Onward!

I'd really like to come, although my mom probably wouldn't let me. Haha, I'm fourteen. She'd probably feel weird taking me somewhere to write with a bunch of adults. :P

I might go to this if I can get some other SOU people to come too. I could use some community. If I get bold I'll come alone, even. :)

sounds like a plan. I will be bring notebook and paper, as I am also laptopless. But I do not have to ask my mother's permission, maybe my son's. Anyway, my biggest challenge is that I will be working toward 24 hours awake at that point, but don't the best ideas come from the half-crazed mind? hope to see some folks there. bye.

I'm driving through from Berkeley to Newport and might stop in at the Ashland write-in at Noble tomorrow (depending on how early I can hit the road tomorrow!.

Can somebody give me the Noble address so I can mapquest it?

Also, how early are you all starting and how late are you planning to go?

Thanks,

Jonathan

The address is 281 4th Street. It's right down from the Pearless.

I shall attempt to be present, for it would be nice to feed off of anothers' creative energy; my own sense of imagination is rather tarnished.

I'm there--was there. I was the guy with the cane (so I don't fall down; again) and wearing the brown fedora (an attempt to catch and hold that ever-elusive Muse creature).
This was the first time we've ventured out to see what other Nanos and Wrimos look like--or how they act. To my surprise I think the gathering was beneficial; for me anyway. The short and random discussions of our Nano-struggles were helpful. And by the solid science of Osmosis and imagination spinning in the same room, I actually found an idea that is working it's way through another thousand words.
I agree that we must meet at Starbucks again, but for five hours and five coffees.

I absolutely agree. With the help of the write-in I had the motivation to meet my goal of 6,400 words for the day and now have close to 13k total.

Any time you guys want to meet again, I'm there. We should actually probably start planning the next one now so we can make sure it works for everyone's schedule. What do you guys think?

When and where is most convenient?

I live in Ashland, so I'm not sure on the where, but Friday or Saturday from 12-4:30 (or maybe even 5?) are good times for me. I'd definitely like to get in on one of these.

Hm... This all seems like a quite a bit of fun! I missed the last one, hopefully I'll be able to make it to the upcoming one. I'll have to find a way to convince my parents to let me go...

Howsabout this: A wide open session @ Barnes & Noble Starbucks on Saturday and Sunday from 12noon to 6pm.
Because not everyone is able to meet at the same time (reminds me of those college project groups that can never meet) Starbucks could contain at least one or two random Nano-writers throughout those hours. Not everyone will meet everyone. But what you can do, with the few that may be there, is plug yourself in--by that Osmosis thing--to the Collective, and that imaginative brain activity thing, that can fill a room and give you that added boost.

If hubby takes the kiddo off my hands for a while this weekend, then I'd love to drop in and meet some people. So far I'm plugging along much better than previous years. However, every little bit helps and this sounds fun!
