Hello! It's your one (and only) Cruise Director/Cat Herder/Word Encourager here -
I had such a great time meeting so many of you folks from the SF Region, first at the Kick-Off/Shove-Off/Gentle-Nudge-Off etc. etc. and then at today's Write-In at Martha & Bros. And sooooooo many Newbies! Exciting conversations, good questions, great novel ideas. You guys have made a wonderful plunge into Nanoland.

Keep checking the SF Forums for updated info, keep going to write-ins, yelp for help if you need advice, encouragement, or a Nano buddy. Do NOT stay silent on the sidelines! We are a community here, folks!

Regarding write-ins: While I figure out the calender thing (techno-challenged, sorry:-( - please let everyone know if you are committing to a regularly scheduled write-in you want put on the calendar. Second, and I did this last year, if you know you will be at a particular location on a given day, start a topic heading: "Impromptu Write-In" with the date. For example: "I will be at X Cafe, today, Thursday, November **, beginning at 11 am for at least 2 hours." If you can give additional info - street address, parking, bus lines, free WiFi, outlets etc. so much the better.

Don't know about you guys, but I wrote a lot of repetitive crap today. Who cares?! It'll sort itself out eventually;-)

It was great to put some faces to names, and to have some writing buddies who I can use for inspiration. I'm sorry I didn't make it today but I was on a roll at home.

Speaking of which, I completely changed plot, novel name, genre, everything between 2am and waking at 7am. Started over (but I can still count the words I wrote before the change, right). It was the right decision - I have a world to play in in my head and characters I actually like!

Anyway, we'll see how that changes to "I hate everything I'm writing" by next week.

For the calendar, it looks like it's owned by whoever has access to sfnanos@gmail.com (I still have it hooked up from last year). If you can log in to calendar.google.com with that address, you should be able to share it as a public calendar. Then others can subscribe to it and add events.

Hey Dominic! Change is sometimes the name of the Nano game. One year I had very detailed outlines for the three different strands of the story arc; then a walk on character, who was supposed to say essentially one reprehensible thing, never to be heard from again, got interesting. I kept wondering WHY he would say what he said, thought about the backstory, yadda yadda yadda, and presto chango, he's the main character. Had to dump that lovely three pronged outline. Oh well. Turned out great; still working on that novel now.

Secondly - yes.

Thirdly - cool, I'll check it out to see if we can still use the sfnanos calendar.
