Well, Day 1 is done, and I made just over 1,667 words. Of course, it's not that good...it needs a LOT of rewriting, but it's on paper.

How was Day 1 for the rest of the San Berdoo group?

"Of course it's not that good... it needs a LOT of rewriting" this is your ROUGH draft!

You did what we all need to be doing, showing up at the page and getting something down on it. PLUS you made your day's word count. YES!

I shoo'd everyone (hubby & wee dogs) out of the den and set up my laptop desk and balance ball to perch upon while I write. It's been nice and I even managed to tune out the Series which was on LOUDLY in the family room. One of the doglets even wandered back in, but she's sound asleep on the sofa, so she's allowed.

Here's to the rest of our Word Quotas being met -- !

Still writing today, and wrestling with writer's block.

I spent the morning and early afternoon getting a short story finished and out of the way, and since then I've been writing. Made my word-count, and I'm happy with it; I don't do the no-editing thing during NaNo, as I find it makes my subsequent writing harder to manage. Something about foundations, maybe; I did it in my first NaNo, and it became more and more of a problem as it went on. So I edit now when I feel I need to, and I find it keeps the writing flowing; seems to be working so far today. Here's hoping it can get me past the block, too...

(Edited to add: it did, indeed, get me past the block. And in the process, I had to delete about 2,600 words from what I'd written so far. Have to love it, but it feels right; and feeling right means I'll get better writing tomorrow. I think the trade's worth it...)

I stayed up late last night writing, then I decide to sleep and lost my stream. I got 6,000 words but after I slept I did 38 words in 6 hours.

Wow. I was feeling really strong about my 1838 yesterday... looks like I need to step up my game.

I just made it to the first quota. Man, I wish I could type faster. I've got all these great ideas for my story, but my fingers can only type so fast.

Congrats everyone! Day 1 was certainty an opening day to be proud of. Its hard enough to set any time aside at all, even if you intend and you all did so much. You inspire me! :-)

The more you type, the faster you'll get! I have a highish typing speed (my tested average varies a lot, from 80-110wpm; I'm not sure how much caffeine has to do with it) but I have no formal typing training; I've just been typing for one reason or another since I was eight years old. I was slow at first, but got faster and faster the more I worked. My typing style is a little crazy-looking (only use half my fingers, because I was never formally trained, so my hands move around a lot more than with a trained typist) but it works well for me.

I was spending the day with my wife yesterday, and foolishly, I didn't make enough time to do some writing, so I only ended up squeezing out 203 words. Argh.

Fortunately, I have today to make up the deficit and get to where I'm supposed to be.

Nothing foolish about spending time with your wife! I'm nursing a bad back, and one of the places that really helps my back the most at the moment is my desk chair; it leans back and takes all the weight off, so I have a perfect excuse to be sitting in front of my writing.

Trouble is, it's also right in front of my work; and I'm expecting to be hard pushed to find enough time to write during the week this month, so I'm going to be making a real effort to keep ahead of the tide on the weekends...

My first day was productive. I really enjoyed the Apple Valley write-in Sunday morning and managed to get 3025 words for the whole day despite allergies keeping my brain in a fog and making writing difficult. (I was aiming for 4k or 5k, but 3k was good enough for me. No complaints!)

Of course, Chapter 1 is awful, but all of my chapter ones have been awful. It is after I move into the second chapter of my NaNo that my writing smooths out and the story starts to flow out onto the page.

Getting a late start on Day 2, but I hope to get to 5k by bedtime. Positive thinking. =)

On Day One I got 10,033 words. Right now I'm at 20,040 but I'm not done yet, I have a goal to be at 25k by midnight. I'm going for 100k words this month.

I'm happy with my near 5,000 for my first day. Trying to go with 12,000-15,000 a week as a goal considering my work schedule and Thanksgiving. Or, a chapter a day at 3,000 for 4 days a week would yield the same without going to extremes (I can't write 5,000 a day and keep employed.)
