WOW what a great start to a great time this month. The Kick-Off was a great success with 38 writers and I think about 8 support group members attending. A special thanks to those that traveled a good distance to make it such a success. A lot of new faces and great to see some of the regulars. We handed out Goodie bags to 36 Wrimos in attendance (Amy and I were the other two writers there) with 30 different items in it. I hope everyone will enjoy them. If you were not able to attend I am hoping to make up some more of the bags over the next week or so.
When Amy and I walked in and saw 40+ folks attending it was great to see. It had been a long weekend to that point with work obligations. Knowing that you all were ready to write your novels and have some fun doing it was worth the work we do as your ML (i.e. Cheerleaders). We also had a very successful write-in after lunch at the Books-a-Million on the Parkway. At least 24 writers were chipping away at those 50,000 words needed for the month. Power was available to who needed it and we found more after most everyone had left. We made sure with BAM that we could use the outlet. They said YES!! Plenty of room here to do our weekend write-ins. They will be Saturdays for 1-3. You can stay longer if you wish, just keep writing.
Look for the Google Calendar with all our dates and times for write-ins.
THANKS to everyone that attended and if you couldn't, we'll see you soon at a write-in.

P.S. Don't forget to make your small donation we spoke about at lunch. Let's see if we can get 100% haloed North Alabama Wrimos!!!!

Thank you for putting the lunch together. It's just great to meet so many other North Alabama writers! Hopefully this is just the beginning of some beautiful friendships!

My wife and I had a great time meeting everyone, too. I'm looking forward to seeing you again at the write-ins!
It's my personal opinion that the best way to thank our MLs for throwing us an awesome lunch yesterday is to donate to NANOWRIMO.

i tend to go to books a million on friday/saturday so will try to meet some of you there.
i know from experience that there are 3 outlets in the cafe. one nearest the ordering booth. one near the back/outside cafe door. one near the books but on the outside towards the books not the cafe.
if you bring and extension and/or surge protector with mulitple plugins they don't mind.
the wifi is free but you must have a booksamillion card/account to use it.
i know that the booksamillion on south parkway ( the one in the airport road shopping center ) also now has wifi in the cafe. but it's not as big as the north parkway one, also i don't know how many outlet it has ( i've use at least 2 but not sure about more)
i'm so glad i found you guys,
i'm excited about nano too.
see you saturday

i almost forgot to add.
when huntsvillians talk of "the Parkway" we are always refering to Memorial Parkway which turns into 431.
don't know why...it's always been called the Parkway even on the radio and tv.
it was the only road/parkway/hiway that used to run the entire length of the town/city.
now we have I-565 but back then it was just the Parkway.
you have 2 way to get to books-a-million.
way i-565 to memorial parkway north exit( which is also 431 north). once off exit ramp- get into middle lane ( you need to stay in middle lane because far right goes straight and far left is too far left)-you need to turn left onto university drive west-- immediately on your right after the light is books-a-million and toys-r-us. there is also a car repair shop in corner. there is an entrence on university that can only be accessed by west bound traffic. if you miss the entrence you can take the turn onto pulaski pike and take the entrence behind the car repair shop. or you can take the home depot/costco entrence further down and just swing around behind their parking lots and get to books-a-million.
way2 from i-565 take sparkman drive. at intersection of memorial parkway and sparkman-turn left 431 south. staying in right lane you will pass oakwood drive ( make sure NOT to get onto overpass or you will over pass the exit) you will pass big k/k-mart and come to the costco/home depot entrence. turning right at 4 way stop take left-follow the road to what looks like your going to back of home depot and it will take you to books-a-million.
zaxby's , starbucks and beauregards all have parking lots that can lead to this same road/street/lane.
hope this helps
